Hi guys,

If an applicant meets all the possible eligibility criteria for the Invitation To Apply, like :

- IELTS CLB 9
- 4 to 5 years of relevant work ex
- age
- education
- all the other necessary requirements

He / She even exceeds the CRS cut off and eventually receives ITA.

BUT !!!! Has not been working since the past 7-8 months for personal reasons or may be he/she wanted a break after 4 years of work and wanted time to research about Canada immigration, wanted time to excel at IELTS, etc..

Then, how can this person show 'last six months' bank statement ??? (account will have no income, however prior to six months there was salary income)

And when it comes to proof of funds, this person has enough amount saved as fixed deposits or can arrange gift deeds for the required amount (12k CAD)

Please let me know -
- Is it a mandate to show 'last six months' bank statement ? Any alternatives to this?
- Not having income flow for last six months can lead to PR rejection?

You don't need an income flow. Showing the money is yours and the visa officer being convinced that you will bring that money to Canada for your settlement is key. It should not happen that you show the money and by the time your application is approved, you have used up all that money and come into canada broke as hell.

This unemployment period does not have any impact on either PNP or PR application if you have met all the criteria and have provided all the required documents.

If there are no transactions in last 6 months, then you can choose to show last 12 months transactions i.e. last 12 months bank statements.
No activity in your bank account does not bother IRCC as long as you have proved that you have the minimum or more funds required for Canada immigration purpose.

Of course submitting bank statements is mandatory for PR application. You can choose to submit 12 months statements in your case.
I hope this helps.

Submitting bank statements is not mandatory. Therefore if you can get a letter from your bank which includes every detail required by CIC you can avoid sending statements. Statements are submitted where the bank letter does not include the average 6 months balance.

Even though it is not mandatory, if you don't submit it upfront, IRCC will request it later on.

I know several applicants who already received their PPR by only showing a bank letter following IRCC's standards.

It varies from case to case and also depends on the VO.
I know a few people who got requests for bank statements.

Which is why it's better to say "they might" request it rather than "they will" request it.

Yeah, you can say it that way to make it look more appropriate.

Thank you so so much, everyone! :)

Can I submit last 2 years bank statement or last 1 and a half year's ? Will that be fine ?

Also, can someone please share the format / details required in the Bank Letter by CIC ?
