Hello My fellow professionals,

We relocated to Calgary on 22nd of July and its been favour upon favour. For all who are coming to Canada, I can categorically tell you from my little experience of this environment that there are a lot of jobs here. Engineers are really in demand here.

Back to the reason for sending out this message. Firstly, I have a contact who is seriously looking for 4 mechanical engineers to work for an oil and gas company immediately. Please kindly in box me your resume as soon as possible. Please you must currently be in Calgary to apply for this job.

Secondly Enterprise Rent A Car is looking for graduates with business, economics or any relevant degrees to come and work for them on their graduate management training program. For people looking for a starting position, this is really good. This is an urgent position and my client who has an insider says they are currently looking to hire up to 15 people. YOU MUST BE A LANDED IMMIGRANT TO APPLY FOR THIS POSITION.

All the best to you all.

Agent of change.

The most important particulars to pursue after landing is your PR Card,SIN card, Alberta health card and bank accounts.
Permanent Resident Card
This is sent automatically to your landing address (address you provided to immigration on your landing card at the airport). It now takes 70days. You can update your address after landing on the CIC website.

SIN Cards
I had to go to Service Canada at the executive one building near the McMahon stadium. When I got there, there were several people, I believe it was because of the holiday period, I was told I would have to wait for two hours on the queue but it took about 50 minutes for us to b attended to, I was given a form to fill to provide the names of my parents and my date of birth, my wife also had to fill a form. We also provided our cOPR and passports for official's review. The SIN numbers were generated and print outs handed to us, SIN numbers were generated for the kids as well. SIN cards will be sent to our address within 14 days.

Alberta Health Insurance
We went to a registry in Lions Park Mall, the personnel said we had to provide 2 pieces of ID ( passport, drivers license), COPR and a lease agreement for our current address, we are staying at a friend's place and did not have a lease agreement. So we couldn't register there. The next day we went to a registry in NE, registry personnel also asked for a lease agreement, utility bill to indicate our residence, w didn't have either.
Just when I was given up,I got in contact with Zajeb (on this forum) and he said there was a registry in NE that don't require any utility bill, the registry is somewhere in Panorama NE, I went there and I got the Alberta health forms, received and approved. The young lady said the cards will be ready within a week.

I haven't opened a bank account yet, I am still scouting around at what they all have to offer.I will share that information later.

Regards

Ki Akobi,

IMO, to get your documents and money back for the 2009 draft send a mail requesting for these from Accra. I expect the Accra office to respond to your request and this should prompt them to ask you to fill a form for refund of Application Fee. On the form you'll give your updated information and means by which you desire to be paid back. However, from experience, paying back takes as much time as processing but I know there are (or could be) some exceptions.

Best wishes.

@Lukeke, hi, thanks for the reply. Aldou my application didn't get to accra before it was rejected and the application was sent to canada in 2011 not 2009. But do you think the accra office can still be of help? If yes, can you pls paste me their email address so I can contact them. Thanks a lot

Hi Akobi26,

If you have or know your case file number write both Accra and Sydney, Nova Scotia quoting it.....The right office will contact you. Did same for my husband when his application was rejected but sincerely I can't remember which office attended to us eventually, though I know it took well over four years for the refund to be processed. A friend of mine has been waiting for her refund since 2010. Don't worry your money is safe with them and you'll be refunded though "with no interest"!

Greetings........
