If you try to update the Visa Officer would suspect something fishy. He/she would wonder how you could possibly forget to fill your dependents name in the form. Is it still possible to add to the dependants at this stage. I am thinking of adding that nephew of mine that was denied the visa under the adoption of my brother.

@ Awoderu,adding them is a two way things. There is what they call ''FOSS'', VO always check for this to know if they have a recorded history of any applicants. Through this, they will know about your cousin/nephew denial and will tender your application to more scrutiny and would want to establish the evidence if they are truly your dependant or Not.Then, how do you demostrate this, is by given VO the evidence that you are responsible for their welfare in Nigeria, like evidence of their school fee receipts showing your name as depositor/Payee,letter of consent from the original parents, photo collections of you and your nephew since the date you are responsible for their welfare up to the moment of your application. Besides, be ready to face interview if you choose to add them to your application.

Another thing is that you can add them to your application on the addittional family form, and sponsor them while you are in canada through PNP Program in the province you reside.

We are considering an appeal. The probable reason for the denial is because he is the only child of his parents and they believe his parents should be able to take care of him.

Not necessary you adopt your cousin until he/she can accompany you to canada. Your cousin can accompany you as long as you enlisted his/her name on the IMM008 as a dependant and indicated that he/she will accompany you. Adoption process is very tricky and involves a lots of papers, and must be ready to face interview at Accra to answer the question to WHY ? AND to convince the VO that you are not engage in child trafficking.

Also, rememer that you will undergo medical request, what about if your cousin had/has a medical conditions which not known to you which may render you inadmiceable,GOD forbid. If you assured of his/her medical condition, then go ahead and add him/her as a dependant rather adding your cousin through adoption

Thanks seglad but i dont get you; i thought its only your biological children that you can include as dependents? are Cousins allowed as dependants too? for the medical condition i actually plan for us all to do the medicals even before i do the update. Am also thinking i should wait till after the medical request so i can enlist her as a non accompanying dependant so she can at least do medicals with us and then we can file for adoption later or what do you think? Anyway i wont do any document update until after the Feb 26th meeting so i can seek more clarification.

Happy new year to everybody out there, I applied in 2004 and I have completed my documentation
since May 2010 but ever since there has not been any further reply other than the following conversation,
when I mailed them in september last year. The conversation goes thus:

Message sent:
Good day Sir / Ma,

I finally summoned courage to write again,

bearing in mind the possibility of being perceived

as impatient on my application process.



I am only acting based on the instruction contained in

your e-mail and letter, wherein you stated that

my application will be processed, in the next sixty days (60) if

you have not heard from me.



It is now well over 90 days( after completing my documentation)

since I last heard from you. Honestly the urgency with which

I rushed through the submission of my documentation

was born out of the belief that maybe "at last CIC is ready for me".

I am sort of worried on what may be keeping CIC from

reaching a conclusion within the stipulated time-frame

and I seek to know in case I may still be of help.

Please in my estimation if you had held your peace for this long. It will be better to take off your mind the entire thing. Only get your finances ready for short notice travel.
