Can u tell me the time change from ''Received by visa office" to "in process" for pre June26 applicants or to get medical from accra visa office?

Nobody can give you the specific time frame it depends on a lot of things and even on the Visa Officer. A member here waited from May last year to January this year before changing (8 months) and another from August to January (5 months) 2011. So it might take a six months period on the average. i submitted mine since September 14th 2010 and is yet to change to in process even though i am highly
expectant that it would change very soon.

Medical requests will commence in March/April for those who have done documents update and visa issurance will be distributed throught out the year until the quotas is reached unlike when all visas are exhausted before AUGUST last year.

Please i need your advise on this issue. I have a 14 year old cousin leaving with me for some years now. Haven realised she might not be able to go with us on to Canada i decided to file for adoption for her. I filed for adoption about May last year and the court in Abuja finally gave us the go ahead last week.

Am about to forward the paper to CIC to update them on the latest addition to the family but some friends say this might lead to denial of Visa what do you guys think? All the adoption processes are genuine and i dont mind if it leads to delay as long as it would not lead to denial. Truth is we dont plan to leave for Canada until about July next year hence am prepared for a little delay if only to get her to go with us. She has been a good child and closely bonded with my kids and i just cant imagine how she would feel if we go without her.

please dont mind my long story all i want to ask has anyone had any experience with adoption case with Accra if yes please share

Not necessary you adopt your cousin until he/she can accompany you to canada. Your cousin can accompany you as long as you enlisted his/her name on the IMM008 as a dependant and indicated that he/she will accompany you. Adoption process is very tricky and involves a lots of papers, and must be ready to face interview at Accra to answer the question to WHY ? AND to convince the VO that you are not engage in child trafficking.

Also, rememer that you will undergo medical request, what about if your cousin had/has a medical conditions which not known to you which may render you inadmiceable,GOD forbid. If you assured of his/her medical condition, then go ahead and add him/her as a dependant rather adding your cousin through adoption

Adoption is not an easy thing. It would have been better if you have added her with your initially application along with your children that way it would have been easeir. My brrother and nephew just went through an unsuccessful process of adoption. Very similar story, A 16 year old nephew of mine was staying with my brother and his family when they were in Nigeria and my nephew got bonded with the family but my brother did not include his name with the initially application because he never knew it was possible but was already too late when he got to know. So he decided to opt for adoption, he finalized documentations with the court in Nigeria. My nephew was asked to produce several documents ranging from his nursey school admission letter, reports etc. to secondary school. My nephew and his parents were eventually invited for an interview, they went for the interview on Wednesday but unfortunatly was denied the visa. We are still expecting to get the reason for the denial.

I will advice you to involve the girl in the whole process, let her be present when filling all of the forms and be prepared for the financial expenses, it cost my brother about N600,000. God help us all.

Am sure you have sent your full documents just like I have done so. Did your ecase status showed "Received by visa office and pending review"?

Some VO put that additional comments........Please recheck if it is there.

As per the medical received error message, they have deleted the message from everybody.

That means the correction of the earlier error was across board. As per the adoption things. while it can be simply put that it's possible. We have our limitation around here. My Aunt tried fixing one for a 16yrs old cousin but the end story was similar to your brother's. So I will subscribe to the idea of updating the IMM 5406 Form

If you try to update the Visa Officer would suspect something fishy. He/she would wonder how you could possibly forget to fill your dependents name in the form. Is it still possible to add to the dependants at this stage. I am thinking of adding that nephew of mine that was denied the visa under the adoption of my brother.
