I was hoping for that, too. Oh well, all we can do is wait for now. Pretty positive about tomorrow! :)

My hubby lives in Manitoba. :) Though sooner or later, we want to move to Ontario (employment reasons). :) The snow is crazy in Winnipeg, I tell ya. ;D They don't call it Winterpeg for nothing. Haha. I wasn't actually born for that kind of weather. ;D ;D

How 'bout you? :)
Yes hopefully this week we get good news, praying for that!

I'm actually born and raised in Toronto, so I am use to winter.. not winnipeg winter though haha. But my husband whom im sponsoring will be be fine, I hope haha. But even in philippines hes like extreme cold from the aircon.
Actually employment is ontario is worse than winnipeg. even in terms of wages, its lower in ontario, one of the many issues of ontario at the moment, lack of employment but high cost of living :( but im sure everything will work out its definitely more lively and higher population than winnipeg. Definitely bring all your favourite shampoos, soaps etc. when you come here because although they sell it here in Canada it is super expensive. I always ask my parents to bring me back some of faves from philippines when they go on vacation! haha.

Very well said, bldc89. I agree with u about d issues here in ontario in terms of wages and the high cost of living . But it def is more lively, esp the blue jays game! :D

For sure! Blues and raptors "we the north!"
its definitely a great experience here and easy to have more of a social life..in terms of places to go. We dont have many food deserts which is good and also many friendly filipinos here!

People working in Tim Hortons in alberta and sask. are earning $14/hr while here in Ontario it is minimum wage $11.25. They need workers in alberta and sask. which is why i believe sponsoring is faster in those areas to meet the employment and population demands. Ontario definitely has its benefits better social services due to diversity, to be honest, i think i rather earn less and be happy in my social surroundings. Like they say its not about how much you make its about how much you save.. hehe. ;)

and manitoba is on that list as well of higher paying rates. My cousin who is a nursings aid is getting paid 36 an hr in winnipeg but here in toronto, no jobs for nursings aids and no jobs for nurses anymore.

So true.. We dont have nursing aids/healthcare attendant here. Either personal support worker, rpn/lpn, or rn.
But for other provinces like alberta, one can still apply as nursing/healthcare attendant for starters.

For sure!! Its a bit sad.. no one wants to retire. My advice to everyone on this thread especially those coming to Canada is to contribute to CPP (Canadian Pension Plan) as soon and as much as you can so you can max your benefits and hopefully retire early. I will be 30 in a couple of years, although it seems early to worry about I am worried about my pension plan.. i want to retire early as life begins at 65 hehe. :D

Yea.. Mgdepend sa type of work and the company. But minimum wage is like 11.25 or 11.40 here sa ontario. Tapos d cost of living is high lalo na sa GTA location. Siguro for other small cities, medyo ok pa ang cost of living but not in toronto. But maganda din kasi ang accessibility sa toronto :)

wow, thanks for the info. that's interesting. laki ng difference sa Tim's! to think, mas affordable ang cost of living sa Alberta and Saskatchewan ha! Dito sa Toronto, ang 600 mo goof for room rental lang, when we lived in Edmonton, $550 was a 2 bedroom apartment, but that was back in 1997. heheheh
Oo. Triny ko mgcompare sa one BR aprtment sa downtown calgary vs downtown toronto, mas mataas talaga sa trnto. Tapos ung parking fees ang mahal. Lol

Yes, the MTV (montreal, toronto, vancouver) effect!! high cost of living, lack of jobs but super lovely to live in if you can afford it. The good thing is Trudeau is making it a bit easier for those with kids with the child benefits so those help a lot! I dont live directly in toronto but within GTA and housing is terrible, I pay a lot for mortgage :(

we're planning to get a condo sa Brampton or Mississauga once makaipon na kami for downpayment when he arrives. I hope we can still find something na kaya ng budget considering we have 3 kids to put through school. Skilled worker si hubby so we anticipate na sosobra sa 50k a year ang family income namin which means our kids won't be qualified for free tuition. :(
I live in Mississauga! just beware when buying a condo in Mississauga, once youre ready to sell the value does not increase because theyre building 10 more. but Mississauga is a very beautiful city theyre also starting to upgrade the old apartments, most of them look really good now, especially the one on 5 and 10 :)
