Hi, I am a new immigrant(Landed Immigrant on PR VISA) in Canada from India. I landed in Canada in July 2010 end. I am living in Markham, ON. I have a Bachelor of Commerce degree (3 years) and a certification in Computing (6 months) from the University of Delhi, India.

I have over 10 years of work experience in India. 5 years as a Sr. Marketing Executive and 5 years in the ITES (Information Technology Enabled Servies) sector.

I have worked as a Production / Application Support Analyst (B2B), ISP (Broadband)- Technical Support Analyst and Customer Care Executive (C2B). I have practical experience of providing technical support to North American , British and Asian customers and Users.

I am currently unemployed in Canada and want to upgrade my education in IT so that I can get a job in IT field as a network administrator or application support analyst or any IT related job which require troubleshooting.

I dont have much funds to support my education so I want to know about the services offered to new immigrants so that I can upgrade my education free or at reduced cost.

Please provide information regarding getting financial help or courses offered by Canadian Govt. for new comers for upgrading education.

"I can upgrade my education free or at reduced cost".

Free &/or reduced cost courses/programs may not be forthcoming. However, u could join any univ, the charges r lower for PRs/Citizens, vis-a-vis International Students, anyway. And u may also qualify for "scholarship loans", which will be paid in instalments. These loans usually cover the entire cost of tuition & study material.

Have you seen this "Median Salary by Certification"?
Microsoft Certified Professional and Systems Engineer: C$60,134 - $62,807 (start lower than these)
Chartered Accountant (CA): $77,119 (start pay lower than this)
http://www.payscale.com/research/CA/Country=Canada/Salary/by_Certification

How to become a CA

Certified General Accountant

You can study by correspondence, online, and/or evening classes to get your degree/professional certification.
And still work during the day in Accounts receivable or Accounts Payable, or Simply Accounting - something that you can learn quickly at work and night school.

Hi kaps, I suggested the above because your background is Commerce.
I've known new immigrants who spent years to get their Microsoft certification and thousands of dollars, but could not find suitable employment. However, if you are determined and know exactly the type of companies and positions you are going after, please follow your instinct.

Jobs such as Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Payroll are easy to find and the salaries start around $40k.
You will get the relevant experience and it allows you to step up in your career. A bird in hand is worth 2 in the bush. A steady full-time job also offers paid vacation, sick leave, and free dental care.

Don't forget the Chang School of Ryerson btw.

They offer a wide range of very good studies etc and mostly for the evening hours and they are not that expensive.

I 've been there and as soon as I have a part time job, I will go and subscribe to a study :D after which you can easily enroll to Ryerson.
