Hi, I am a new immigrant(Landed Immigrant on PR VISA) in Canada from India. I landed in Canada in July 2010 end. I am living in Markham, ON. I have a Bachelor of Commerce degree (3 years) and a certification in Computing (6 months) from the University of Delhi, India.

I have over 10 years of work experience in India. 5 years as a Sr. Marketing Executive and 5 years in the ITES (Information Technology Enabled Servies) sector.

I have worked as a Production / Application Support Analyst (B2B), ISP (Broadband)- Technical Support Analyst and Customer Care Executive (C2B). I have practical experience of providing technical support to North American , British and Asian customers and Users.

I am currently unemployed in Canada and want to upgrade my education in IT so that I can get a job in IT field as a network administrator or application support analyst or any IT related job which require troubleshooting.

I dont have much funds to support my education so I want to know about the services offered to new immigrants so that I can upgrade my education free or at reduced cost.

Please provide information regarding getting financial help or courses offered by Canadian Govt. for new comers for upgrading education.

Hi,
I have also been researching continuing education and upgrading skills for new immigrants and discovered "Bridge Training". It's for new immigrants to upgrade their skills -- seems perfect for your situation. Check out this this site:

if u have stayed in the city or province where u are for at least 1 yr, for most provinces then u can apply for federal study loan and grant where u can get funding for yr loan and get some grant base on yr income level for the previous year.

Some provinces do not have such one year requirement but some do, so u would have to check the provinces policies out and also decide on the unis that u want to attend as well.

Hope that helps.
