Just seen the updates to crs score calculations, has been an interesting read. Really pleased to see that they have limited the maximum LMIA bonus points to only the cream of the crop. I've argued several times before that 200 crs points for all LMIAs would be pointless and would have limited effect on the system (after all, it's pretty hard to be eligible for EE and get fewer than 250-300 crs). So the majority of LMIA holders getting 50 points will make them more competitive whilst weeding out the fast food supervisors.
In terms of CRS rank required, I can forsee that scores will remain in a similar region to where they are now in the very short term, potentiality going up. There are undoubtedly candidates who have got Canadian education and were in the 450-460 region who will be bolstered up to 480-490. I don't see that becoming the status quo buy any means though. Now that LMIA holders won't get automatic ITA, those with high human capital will be better represented and will get more ITAs. After the next draw or two, if ITAs stay in the region of 2000, I can foresee a large drop in CRS rank required. I think we'll see the score settle in the 440-450 range for several months as there's quite a backlog there, which will be exacerbated by those with Canadian education getting bonus points. Still, once it clears down, with the pre EE backlog cleared, 2500+ ITAs per draw and fewer getting ITA with low human capital and an LMIA I think scores will eventually settle in the region of 400.
One thing is for sure... if the scores do go up next draw after the 19th as I expect, it'll be wise to stay clear of this forum for a week or two due to the inevitable amount of FUD that some people will start to spread.
In summary -
WINNERS:
*those with high human capital (particularly 450+ in the short term, if you have 400+ you'll be happy soon! )
*those with canadian education
*senior managers with LMIA
LOSERS:
*LMIA holders with low human capital
CRS FORECAST
Short term (November - December) - 470-490
Medium term (January - June) - 440 - 450
Long term - around 400
Got to love a bit of reasoned speculation! I'm really happy with the changes myself, got ielts scores today which will give me and my partner 472 CRS when we apply in January
