It does not matter as long as you fill in all names as shown in his/her current passports. In you case, they probably din't fill information from her passport in right format.

ok Finally you guys can add me in list ;D

You had to put FNU or N/A in first name and put your whole name in surname coloum
..belive me FNU means first name unavaliable....that the right way I did it brfore in visitor visa

Here is a link of CIC website for those who dont have sur name

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/helpcentre/answer.asp?q=014&t=4

Check that link above surname field has to filled with your full name like suppose your name is manpreet singh...then you will put N/A in given name or first name
But surname field has to filled with manpreet singh
.
.check that link above you will get your answer complete and clear

you do not have a surname on your passport, travel or identity document, enter all your given name(s) in the surname field, write “not applicable” or “N/A” in the given name field. [Official wording from CIC website]

I know karan my friend also did like that i just shared what's happend with my cousin before 2 months

One of my friend applied on June 5 and within 5 months her husband received passport with VISA. Actually her overall process was less than 5 months. She never changed her surname and applied with same name.
I would say as long as you guys have strong proof about relationship, changing last name does not matter. she knew her husband from last 4-5 years and they showed all proofs in file.
People who do not have enough proofs to show, i would suggest changing surname after marriage.

Basically this is just my opinion and i could be wrong.

It took approx 1 month when we applied. If you go for tatkal then it may take little less time.

Surname is never done in tatkal. It's a normal application...I have experience...in Chandigarh
