Finally a ray of hope...My status changed to IP today.
I am Oct 17 applicant.

Application number doesnt work either this is depressing as i am oct 22 applicant and i just saw oct 21 applicant got in process if my wife calls ndvo and ask them for application status will they tell us or no?

Hopefully this issue will be fixed soon.
CIC had this issue previously as well (as per conversations on other forums), and it gets resolved.
Usually people reported it was fixed within one week (they were able to check from either account). Only one person experienced it for three weeks.

IMHO you should do an MP inquiry in a week or so if you can't see the status.

Hey congrats..At what time did you check ecas? I have the same ppr date. So it has raised my hopes a bit.

Usually the updates comes on Tuesdays around 9.00 - 11.00 AM. Because when I checked @ 9.00 AM no change in status and around 11.00 AM it was showing IP. In detail section a new line added " We started processing your application on July 5, 2014".

I'm actually feeling kind of worried now. People with similar date of application and ppr are getting their status changed to in process. But there has been no change for me. >:(

How and where do i locate my wife's uci or client id?
All i have are the receipts of the fee payments done for the visa, which i think these guys call the IMM 5401.

I tried logging in using this receipt number,
1) with my dob, name, etc : didnt work
2) with my wife;s info : didnt work either

I called up CIC in the morning and have put in a complaint to their IT department.

ecas is working for me..i just tried..go to client application status, enter identification type client id number and enter 8 digit number and rest of the information...maybe CIC people fixed the problem

You can find your wife's UCI in the AOR. It can be located in the top left corner of that letter.
Alternatively, you can use the immigration file number as well. It will be something like this FXXXXXXXXX. It is printed right next to the UCI.
Hope it helps!

let's try this process step by step and if you are still having problem, then call center. click on this link

https://services3.cic.gc.ca/ecas/ECAS.jsp

click on continue; next page click on check box then click on continue; next page identification type choose client id number and enter all 8 digit number starting with '5' in my case; enter sponsor's family name; date of birth; and country of birth then click continue; next page under permanent application status you might see 'application received' or 'in process' or 'decision made' click on that and you will see details of current status...if these steps do not work then call CIC sometimes they screw up

Thanks for the steps. I have been checking my status for the last 8 months. So, I am absolutely certain that I am doing it right :P :P :P :P
I wouldn't worry about why its not showing up at the moment coz I can check it with the file number and my wife's details.
I am just trying to figure out if it has anything to with the upcoming status change (in process). I've heard from some other forum members and my friends that their status changed to 'in process' once the problem got fixed on ECAS.
I see this problem as a positive sign, which may be the much anticipated progression from 'Application Received' to 'In Process' !!

my apologies; oh well a newcomer could benefit from my elaborate post...down the road people could refer to my post and say 'check it out and don't ask again how to access information'

No worries!!! The detailed steps will benefit the newcomers for sure. Thank you once again!
I hope the problem gets resolved soon and everyone facing this problem sees either In Process or Decision Made or get the Passport with shiny visa (BEST OPTION ;) ;)). 8) 8) 8) 8)
