What's is Kumauni? i want to know too... :)

Hello!Uttarakhand (India) has two divisions one Garhwal and the other Kumaon. So people belonging to Kumaon region are called Kumaoni and like-wise for Garhwal. In colloquial language, people of Kumaon & Garhwal are also referred to as "Pahari" :)

I agree too.You will get visa if your relationship is genuine. He might be trying to grill you ( rest i totally understand your sentiment when you mentioned you were hoping for a foreign-origin visa officer....its a well-known fact about most Indians being judgmental and rude about anyone who does not adhere to a "conventional way of living life")

Worst case, even if you don't get the visa...heavens wont fall you will instead earn pride that you stood for your marriage.BTW ( little tongue-in-cheek humour) India is not a bad country to live in...i love it!"Saare jahan se achcha hindustan humara ;)
A half-hour interview and a clumsy guy cant understand the bond of love you share for each other.Cheers!

I have a same feeling now... I have spoken to my lawyer in Canada. They said; this is the common practice which they use in CIC, Delhi. I got too many proof together with my spouse.

Sometime they try to scare the applicant so they can't lie or panic.

I will wait for the decision now...

Hope for the best now...

hey guys,

its my turn to share the good news with you all. :)

I am a September applicant (File received: 3rd September) and got my visa on the 4th of June.

Would like to share the sequence of events for the benefit of others -

- Got a call from CHC on 29th May asking if I could fly before 28th of June, as that is when my medicals expire. I agreed to it.
- Got another call on the 3rd of June, this time for collection of passport
- Got the passport with the visa on the 4th, it was a quick thing, only took me 10 mins at the CHC.

I am flying to Toronto on the 22nd...3 more days to go :)

Going by the trend it appears they would issue you the visa close to when your medicals are about to expire.

Wish you all the best, just a matter of time before you all are re-united with your loved ones.

Cheers !!

what's up with this sikh guy..he has been rejecting applicants left and right....he should be fired...under what category did you apply? from your post, it is not clear you both married or not...if not married, you qualify under common law (if you can show that you both lived under one roof for a year with both of you having substantial evidence such as join bank accounts; lease under both names; insurance; will etc...) or conjugal (if you had not lived under one roof but support with other evidences)..NDVO has some traditional visa officers and it needs to change..one lady asked husband why he got married late and why his wife does not have a child when she has a child bearing age....and what's up with provide me more documentation then i will consider. What more documents he needs? trips, living together for 3 years not enough? it makes me mad that one moron sitting in a booth decides whether to grant a visa or not and it takes more than a year to tell me that...

Did you have a Sikh visa officer too? My wife's interviewer was also Sikh... he didn't reject me and you both W2E, but he clearly is making us wait and delaying us unnecessarily... as me and you both have submitted our remedicals....

This is what happens when one community is majority, they start going against other communities.

Do we have to make prejudice comments based on religion and race?

Every religion has bad apples.
