Has anyone tried applying for tourist Visa while waiting for spousal sponsorship? I googled it and it says that all you have to do is show enough and appropriate documents.

Sorry to tell you that her chances of getting a TRV are extremely low. In order to get a TRV, an applicant must show stronger ties to the home country than to Canada to show CIC they won't overstay their visa. With a spouse in Canada, the applicant is viewed as a high risk to overstay. With a spouse in Canada and a PR app in process, the overstay risk is considered to be even higher.

She can apply but don't get your hopes up.

Hello,
I am on PR here in canada and lives in vancouver, i recently got married in india and applied for her sponsorshp. Is there any chance of applying for her tourist Visa, by the time we wait. what are the odds of getting it and if we cant apply then what holds us back?

Actually I know of 3 of my friends who got their wife on a tourist visa and then applied but had to go back when the visa expired but you could have that extended. The pros and cons of applying tourist visa are
Pro
1. your spouse will be with you.
2. You have the option from applying from Canada or through NDVO office

Cons
1. if you tourist visa is rejected it can have consequences as they will get you to the interview and might delay things.
2. You will have to take insurance for medical as tourist visa you are not covered
3. your wife will not be able to work.
4. You wife can apply for extension but if not then will have to go back..

I know of 1 friend who called wife on tourist visa for 6 months and sent her back and have her in Canada now on PR now...., one who is just married got wife in canada on tourist and is planning to keep on extending and also apply for the pr.

So it is a tricky situation. I chose not to take a chance and apply for the PR and be safe.

hmmmm.... Thankyou..
Just one more question. Does me visiting india for vacation or for longer time affects her PR process?

Since you are on a PR I have heard that you should not be in India a lot as it may effect....but I have yet to see....but you have to be in canada to apply for the forms....the friend who got for 6 months applied and then got her on a tourist visa on the condition that his mothers birthday 50th one i think and his close friend was getting married so he wanted his wife to attend and hence he got the visa tourist visa.

Thanks Anupam
i have applied for her sponsorship already, Is it that, New Delhi Visa office request for the passport with in few days of receiving the file. if yes, in that case she will have to go back to india to deposit the passport, if i am lucky in bringing her here on tourist visa.

agree with all your points but I have been told by lawyers that getting rejected does not automatically lead to interviews...it might work in one's own favor showing genuine relationship..of course if I ask two lawyers about this, I will get three opinions - do it, don't do it, what's in it for me

yeah in my friends case he did not send the passport till she went back to india.....she sent the passport like 3 4 months after the request....and he applied in december 2012 and got his visa stamped in Aug 2013 which is like 9 months....

yep agreed it will be like aa baail mujhe maar waali baat....lol.....actually any rejections do raise some eyebrows as I have seen in any visa.....it may I would say....

IF U MISS CALLS TO VARIFY ADDRESS WHY THE HELL DONT THEY CALL BACK AGAIN ...done everything possible ....if I don't hear anything till 10th will apply notes again....but notes everything has passed and RFV don't even know if its goin to make any difference !! comeone NDVO some ppl waiting in ip since june-oct have a heart and give them all visa's ...and application recd applicant waiting since feb give them some news....and grant all 2012 ppl visa's .....this really is a waiting came man !!
