Canada's Citizenship and Immigration Minister Chris Alexander yesterday released the following statement:

“Our government continues to look at all reasonable options to make Canada's already generous immigration system even more flexible, fast and fair. To that end, I am pleased to announce another common sense move to cut wait times for newcomers who are committed to contributing to Canada's long-term growth and prosperity.

“The application process has, for too long, been bogged down by persons who unnecessarily delay the process for everyone else by not taking the process seriously.

“We are committed to ensuring that those who play by the rules and work in good faith to become Canadian citizens will not have to wait in line behind people who fail to attend their citizenship test or interview, or who fail to submit a residence questionnaire.

“We remain committed to eliminating backlogs and continuing to enhance the value of Canadian citizenship.”

Hi zormas.... thanks for your concern...I asked my MP to check the status and I got standard reply 'file under review...got your medical results...we will check again in Dec'....as for GCMAS, I have ordered a copy and will get it sometime around sept 20th...

My lawyer will get the call or email since she is the main contact person....I asked my lawyer if I need to stay in Canada since my part of sponsorship has been approved..she said no and if I go back it will strengthen my case and not affect..so, off I go to India on Oct 25th and stay there until this process is over...

Interesting. If you are leaving for India..then its not too bad for you...cuz a lot of ppl are stuck in Canada for many different reasons and cant see their spouse (like me).

Traveling should not be a problem...so gud luck and have fun! you never know..you might get the good news before oct 25 :)

Hi, I am vinod,i am working under LMO in ALBERTA. my work experience in canada 1 full year as restaurant waiter (server), then got promoted as restaurant supervisor 6 months before . And i have 6 years experience in Italy. May 2013 i got married . so my question is , Am i eligible to apply for dependent visa for my wife before applying for P.R.
just because PR takes time .so better bring her to canada first then apply for PR. that is my idea.

Is there any chances ,she can apply from india for the dependent visa .
she is working as Software Developer for past 2 and 6 months. she completed BE. and she scored 6.5 In IELTS.

Please give me your best advice to start my process for my wife.
thank you,
vinod

Dependent Visa, Spousal Visa, P.R all are same. I would highly suggest you to apply for spousal visa than any other visa. Best of luck.

They are not same. Dependent visa is for Work permit holders or person who are temporary in canada (spousal visa is a term used by ppl) PR process for spouse is completely different.

In Vinod case its good to apply for a dependent visa (if your work permit is valid) and get your wife to canada and both of you submit PR application together so that you can live together until PR process gets over for both.

Yes this is a better option if you can go for this rather than waiting for PR. In case of Dependent/student visa you can get your wife to canada on basis of that.
But as per latest info they are not issuing PR easily to Work Permit holders.

exactly...thats why its better for him to be with his wife by applying dependent visa....from his message he is yet to submit his own PR application...so he will be waiting for his process easily 8-10months (without knowing will that be approved) and then apply for Wife PR... he already lost 1.5 years of marriage life..
