Who told you that with a canadian passport you can only stay upto 6months ? A canadian citizen can stay for however long they want...dont advice people with wrong info please. I am a Canadian Citizen and got married in feb and been here with him since then...

just adding as long as you have indian OCI..there is no time restriction.,...time restrictions only applies usually with visitor visas...

Hey Gulzar , have you got your visa on ur passport, no posts frm ur end??
i have a question pls guide me, with all the document we attach a police clearance, so is it necessary that we get it from police / passport office of the city where i lived?? In my case since i got married to a person whose hometown is different so if i attach police clearance from the city where i now reside i.e my husbands place and waiting fr my passport thing, will it cause any problem?? we applied fr police clearance after marriage ofcourse so got it from that city, n not from the city where i stayed.
Kindly suggest .its a ques to all. Thanks..

I'm sorry but this is wrong, I have a Canadian passport and you can ONLY STAY in INDIA 6 months on a tourist visa. You need to convert your visa from tourist to PIO (if no family from India) or OCI (if you or parents or grandparents born in India) or an X visa (whihc is valid for one year). I am a Canadian passport holder who worked in India then lived there for 5 years and married an Indian, I can tell you with certainty that if you only have a Canadian passport you need a tourist visa to go to India which is valid for 6 months. If you get a PIO or OCI then yes you can stay as long as you want though if you plan to stay longer than 6 months you need to register with the FRO or police commissioners office.

Not with visitor visa, only with OCI

Only for PIO, not OCI

Haven't you got your passport yet, in this type of case on should go for PCC issued from passport office otherwise you need to get PCC from all the places where you have stayed after 18 years of age.

thanks fr the reply can4visa..nw that means they wil ask my PCC again,:( ..what should i do now??

Guys let's get our facts clear. A person having OCI and cdn citizenship can stay in india for as long as he/she wishes, there are no time restrictions. A person having just cdn citizenship can obtain a vistor visa to india which is valid for 6 months. After this period, they need to extend/renew their visitor visa. These are the facts!

On another note, it's finally good to see people getting visas/DM's. This forum seems lively again after a long drought. I wish everyone the best and hope that all our loved ones can join us asap.

Hi !

How long do you want to stay? With a canadian passport you can stay upto 6 months. However, I have a lawyer for my case, and he suggested that If I intend to go to India, should be no longer than 2 weeks. Keep the trip short. He was suggesting that in case NDVO interview your spouse, you should not be there during that time.

Ihink some1 gave u the wrong info.....usually it is said when ur spouse schdeuled for an interview u shud be there with them and at that point u shud not be landed in India more than two weeks before the interview date....and if u have kid n he/ she attended ur wedding then it is a must to take them with u to interview...I know some people who did this ...and for them officer didn't ask any question from the couple...but did ask the kids...again its not the law....but this has worked for many who had real cases........

Did anybody notice that all the media is quite and other than us on this forum mostly even in Canada NOOOO BODY KNOWS anything about strike. This is the reason that from the last so long there is no progress to stop this strike. It is because ..... it is we who are suffering and not them who are responsible for all this strike.

First time, I read about this strike in newspaper yesterday. It was from colleges and universities here in Vancouver. Many international students could not join because of visa delays and asking for money refund from colleges and universities. It was written that management of educational institutes want this strike to end as soon as possible and they are talking to government also about this.
