I am planning to visit my husband for a month. I am a canadian citizenship.
Am i allowed to stay for a long period of time?????

Hi !

How long do you want to stay? With a canadian passport you can stay upto 6 months. However, I have a lawyer for my case, and he suggested that If I intend to go to India, should be no longer than 2 weeks. Keep the trip short. He was suggesting that in case NDVO interview your spouse, you should not be there during that time.

I checked it about a week or 2 ago. It has always been application received, so because of the strike I only check e-cas like once every few weeks.
It says they started working on his file on August 7th. I just hope that it's a quick DM! And not months like some others.

If I can have my hubby here with me by end of September it would make my kids so happy. Both birthdays of our kids in September.

Quite happy right now. We were married in India and lived together for almost 4 years before I moved to Canada and we have two beautiful kids. I hope this makes our case straight forward, because we have a religion difference and culture difference. LOL

Congratulations Skas13, hope your application status changes to DM soon and you get your pp back with PRV. Good luck !!!

After months of no change this is such good news. I know it's not a Visa or a PR, but it is something!!!

Congratulations finebalance, hope your application status changes to DM soon and you get your pp back with PRV. Good luck !!!

Hello all,

Thanks for starting this thread. I got married on July 15, 2013 and I will be submitting the spousal sponsorship documents for my wife very soon.

I have a question regarding the name change on my wife's passport, adding my last name to hers. Shall we make this name change on her Indian passport before submitting the PR application?

The other option is to submit the application with her old passport containing her maiden name. Then change the name on her passport later, while her immigration application is in process. When she is required to submit her passport to CIC, she would submit the new passport containing her new changed name.

Can someone suggest which of these options is advisable.

Hi !

Congrats on the wedding !

You should make the change before you submit your application! Take a lawyer's advice if you can, but that's what they would suggest you to do ! Good luck !

Thanks in advance,

Kind Regards,
Nilay
