As a Canadian Citizen you can stay as long as you want..... Good luck

As a foreigner, there are restrictions from Indian government if you stay more than 180 days (need to get permit to stay longer and also at one time they had a ruling as to having a two months break if you go out of India and back before the 60 day time limit...not sure if they had removed that ruling or not). Some people get overseas citizens of India visa (unlimited stay in India) to deal with restrictions

I don't think so..try contacting them or do a new one...

Anyway i wont worry about CAIPS until my file is delayed for no reasons...CAIPS wont help at this point.

I am just curious to know where they are in the process. I'm not stressed about it or anything, just curious. I just wish they were more transparent about the process. For instance it would be nice to see on E-cas when they start security check or something. I just hate the not knowing.

That is actually not true. You need a visa and it is only good for 6 months. You need to leave the country to renew.

hey guys i just wanted to know , do they do background and security and criminal check for tourist visas?

I don't think so, you can get the tourist visa in about 2-3 days. Before you could get it the same day, but since they have started using an outside vendor for processing it takes a little longer. And I don't think they do any background checks.

If you have a OCI ...you can stay until any length of time in India... ...6 month restriction applies usually for tourist visas around the world only.

They may do the background and criminal checks...when you fill out the form they clearly ask you for this information...but again it depends upon case to case bases
