Visa offices remain open
PAFSO responded that they couldn't accept that condition since fighting for "equal pay for equal work" is the precise reason they are on strike. Edwards said foreign service officers are trying to close the wage gap with other government workers who do the same jobs working as policy analysts, economists, lawyers or other positions but get paid more.

PAFSO said it would accept three of the conditions, but Treasury Board said it had to accept them all.

"We are disappointed that the union has refused our reasonable offer," a spokesman for Clement said Monday. "Our government is committed to bargaining in good faith, unlike the union, which has breached good faith bargaining principles by releasing confidential negotiating documents."

Guys.. my husband has to start school from Sept.. and his PR application is still in queue.. Has anyone tried for student visa while PR is in process ??

Strike is really pissing. shattered all my plans :(

Applied student Visa last Friday. Hopefully in Next 5 days, will receive my Student Visa.

But my problem is I already submitted my passport for PR. If I am getting my student visa, what I will do for PR. Do I need to send my passport again to Embassy?. Can I change my Visa office to Mississauga.

Hi.. .thanks for the link.. i dont think I have enough time to even apply for student visa.. and yeah all in the same boat.. shattered and sad :(

the gov here is pretty tough on cost cutting now a days coz Canada is not doing that great with money.. it declared quite a lot of billion $ deficiency this year. So wage hike seems to be tough nut to grab from gov.

anyways,, hopes are always high.. loads of luck :)

I applied for student visa as temporary stay > 6months. will it be rejected??
