Strange but this is how CIC works.Every case is different so there is no trend to follow..
I have friends who were able to bring their spouses to Canada within 3 months..for some it took 5 months (which is still not bad!!)..

Clearly the strike has not really affected student visas...(atleast looking at the forum)
All of them are getting visa now in less than a week...

So I am again being positve that after mid august lot of us are going to see DM...fingers crossed...

Thr way ppl started getting calls and student visa are being issued really fast -- maybe something got settled b/w both the parties and they are not disclosing it for so an so reason.
JUST A GUESS -- BEING POSITIVE -- lol

You are right...Already Jan 9 13 applicant got visa apporval by phone on 6th of August...
so I am pretty sure we will be getting soon

Why would they do that though as there are still many people from Jan 2013 and Feb 2013 who have not received PR's. I think every case worker has their own files and I do not think there is a transparent process here. It's so random, which is frustrating to keep track of.

There is no FIFO process...i agree this is all about how fast a case officer can process assigned files.

4-5 years ago the whole process including sponsorship approval used to take maximum of 3 months..
