Hi,

Although ,I am still to apply for my citizenship ,however as 2014 will be the year I will become eligible to apply ,I am keepin a close watch on timelines.Surprisingly ,contrary to the CIC website ,the processing times are getting shorter for recent applications especially filed during the 2nd quarter of 2013 and I have seen people getting processed in 7-10 months (through different local offices).

I am finding it hard to establish a conclusion thru this new trend .There are people who applied in 2012 (without an RQ) and still waiting for a test and there have been recent applicants who applied in 2013 ,got a pre-test RQ but were still faster enough to get test notification within 2 months after submitting RQ docs.

Has CIC introduced a new pilot project to speed process a bunch of applicants or they are just prioritizing the new applications ,as they did for post Feb 2008 FSW applicants ?

Anyone having any idea about this whole situation?

Thanks

I can't answer most of your questions.

However I can tell you there has been no pilot project announced.

There were bunch of operational bulletins in 2012-2013.
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/resources/manuals/bulletins/2012/index.asp

While it is not mentioning a pilot project, it is clear that they are changing the procedures of processing applications.

Some local offices are MUCH faster than others. Windsor tends to be quick. Winnipeg not so much.
Well I do agree with you that some local offices are much faster than the other ones, however don't you think these offices are not newly assigned .They were already in the system ,still there were people who were waiting for 2 years or so through these offices for a test date i.e. Missisauga .I am just trying to figure out whether CIC is prioritizing the recent applications ? Besides, the in-process status which the new applicants are getting after around 2 months of submitting the application instead of 6 months or so as it was for old applicants .And this is by CIC Sydney ,not by local office. However ,I do understand that the rest of the processing depends upon your local office speed. But, even if you are getting an early in-process for your application,it could simply reduce around 4 months or so straight away from your processing.

From what I have read in forums is does seem like newer application are been processed faster! And also depends on your location. I was unfortunate to be stuck in the Winnipeg processing stream. By the time I do my Oath Ceremony at the end of this month, 35 months would have elapsed.

It seems applications are making it out of Syndey rather quickly. This must be the case if Windsor can process applications in 7 to 8 months. The delays seem to be at the local offices right now for most people.

I think the Manitoba provincial immigration minister need to have a sit down with their federal counterparts to find out what the heck is going on in Winnipeg. Is Manitoba being punished for having an NDP government? The waiting times for citizenship in Manitoba, even routine cases, are so extreme it is probably a disincentive for some immigrants to go to Manitoba.

The Manitoba gvt is an NDP gvt which obviously is incapable of efficiently processing applications that are quickly coming to them. The conservatives allocated $44Million to CIC citizenship applications exclusively so as to eliminate the growing backlogs. So as Winnipeg receives partially processed applications from Syndey, Ofcourse NDP incompetence kicks in as usual. They themselves need to sit down with each other and ask themselves why they are incapable of efficiently doing the job they are mandated to do. Noone is punishing them, they are punishing applicants who are relying on them to prove their worth.

That's because our Hon. Finance Minister JIM Flaherity allocated $44Million in the 2012-2013 Budget to CIC citizenship application exclusively to clear the backlogs and increase the efficiency of the application process itself. So its the $44Million dollars working through the system and its good to hear that its working. So im sure these dollars would have made their way to local cic offices as well, and it would be now up to them to get on top of their game. Cancelling citizenship applications for those that don't bother to show for their tests/interviews for what ever reason would be one way to clear up more space so the process is even faster. In Australia it takes 66 days and you can send your application online or by post to your nearest immigration office. So different huh?! Well...im submitting mine on February the 10th, and im lodging it from Calgary, so I expect the quickest and most efficient service by my local cic office once its obviously approved by Sydney. After all, the Torries run this Great Province, so im comfortable and at ease with everything.

I also think that process is now moving fast... One of my friend applied in May 2013 , he got RQ in November , CIC call center agent told him that he should expect test invitation in 2-3 months if officer is satisfied from the submission so in almost 12-15 months his case is likely to get finalize (hopefully)

Um, citizenship applications are processed by federal government employees. Windsor is one of the fastest places in Canada. Windsor is an NDP stronghold. Therefore, the problem must be down to lack of resources rather than some inherent cultural deficit in regions where the NDP is popular.
