We would like to have him sponsor me as a common law partner after living together for 12 months (8 months from now). I was going to apply to extend my visitors visa from within, but my grandpa is very sick and I'm going to go to michigan to visit him. I will probably stay for a week or 2. My question is: is it true when I return to canada that this resets my visitors visa allowing me 6 more months? What do I tell the border guard when coming back to canada as to how long my last visit was?
