I am asking so many questions today, almost ready to send in the app, just needing to finalize a few things on forms that I have left blank due to confusion.

On the Generic application form to canada (which my husband is filling out) He is a Mexican Citizen.

The form asks "Do you have a national identity document?''

What is this document??

Also I am listed under dependants and it asks the same thing for me.

Please help! Thank you!

Passport copy is what we used. If I remember correctly one of the forms lists what you can use and says to only send one form of identity document. So pick one and send one of yours and one of his.

Why are you listing yourself as his dependant...you're his sponsor.

Thanks! And ponga I realized after I posted this that I made a mistake on that.... I thought because I was being supported by him here in Mexico I was classified as that, but after doing more research I realized that error! I am sure I am not the only one who made that mistake

It is confusing (like sooo many parts of this process), but in the eyes of CIC, he is more likely to be your dependant, because you will be [technically] financially responsible for him for 3 years after he becomes a PR.

Be sure to inform CIC that his income will be an important piece of the puzzle, regarding your family finances. Even though there is no minimum income requirement, his income, or future income in Canada, will be a big part of your plan.
