Hey guys,

So I am filling out the for IMM5532e and I m stuck on the question I typed below.

PART B - INFORMATION ABOUT THE PRINCIPAL APPLICANT - TO BE FILLED OUT BY THE PRINCIPAL APPLICANT
1. Before this relationship, was your sponsor related to you in any way? e.g.
· Your sponsor was related to a member of your family.
· Your sponsor's family member was related to you or a member of your family.
YES OR NO.

My father and father in law are first cousins, meaning my father's paternal grandfather and my father in-laws maternal grandfather is a same person. I hope I am not confusing.
So should I answer YES to this question or NO to this question.

Thanks for the response. So how should I respond to it. Should I write that my father in-law is also my uncle?
If you are required to specify the type of relation than yes. You are first cousins. Hopefully you have undertaken genetic testing to try and rule out some of the most common genetic conditions that are the result of cousin to cousin marriages.

We are not first cousins. My father and my spouse's father are first cousins. Basically my grand father is uncle of my spouse's father. So I think I can call her my second cousin. BUT I don't think we really are cousins, since we don't share same line of blood. Please shed some light.

Yes, you are second cousins and I believe you do share a line of blood. Whether that's an issue of medical concern - consult a doctor/geneticist.
