My study permit has expired and I think I have been defrauded, please help me

Hi, I am looking for some help here.
My situation is very complicated.
I am an international student and I came from China.
I applied the study permit at the beginning of 2012 and it has an expiration date on March 31th, 2014. I went back to China in the summer of 2012 and I applied my Canadian visa. At that time I stapled my study permit in my passport and I mailed my passport to renew my visa.
When I received my passport, the study permit inside it was gone, and I did not notice that the new visa was not a student visa but a visitor visa. I found out this by the end of 2013.
Then I asked an agent who said he could apply study permit and visa for me. He told me that since my last study permit was missing so I do not have the UCI number, the processing time for renewing the new study permit would be very long (I was not be able to ask the CIC agent because each time I call, I could not find the way to speak to an agent). So I asked him to apply it for me and that was before the expiration date of my old study permit (even though the old one was missing, I remember the expiration date). I expected the processing time to be very long but I haven't received the study permit yet now on July 9th. I realize there could be some mistake. The agent could have been lied to me.

So is there any chance I can still renew my study permit? I am so worried about that I would have to leave this country forever.

1. If agent is lying, you are already out of status (90+ days). Must leave Canada.
2. Nothing exist like a 'Student Visa'. It's either a Study Permit or TRV (Visitor visa).
3. UCI number is available on your TRV (visitor visa).

Reapply from China for a new study permit. Leave Canada immediately to avoid trouble later on.

You can but that will make u an offender which can lead to a lot of trouble later on.
You can leave canada get your visa in place and then return to complete the study try having a word with your college i am sure they will help you.

I'll be honest here.

It's very hard to get a new study permit after you overstay. Even if you leave right now and reapply from China, you will most likely be rejected.

It's your choice if you want to overstay and finish the remaining term.

Just know that if you decide to go back, it's unlikely you will be allowed back anytime soon.

I know it's a tough situation after paying so much tuition, but your situation cant be helped unfortunately.

Here's some advice that will help you throughout your life. Always depend on yourself and dont put your life in the hands of other people like agents.

Yeah I realized that... but cant I explain the reason of why I let my study permit expired and overstayed? It is the agent's fault and I was defrauded. I really tried to apply to extend my old study permit.

I am now very afraid to speak to any locals about my situation using my real identity...
I am afraid that anyone could tell the CIC about my situation and then I will be forced to leave and there would be no chance of coming back...

If it's more important for you to finish school - then stay until the end of August.

If it's more imporant for you to be able to return to Canada at some point in the future - leave immediately.

These are really your two choices.

More importantly, will your college even allow you to continue without a valid Study Permit?

My institution sends a warning message to me each time my study permit is near expiry letting me know that they will de-register me if I dont produce a new study permit.

As for it being the agents fault, can you provide detailed proof of this? Will he sign a letter admitting to his wrong doing and let you submit it to CIC?

You just claiming that it's his fault without documentation wont do you much good.
