Hello everyone,

My spouse was rejected visitor's visa 6 years ago. His aunt in in Canada and her husband was quick sick and wanted someone to come and help her. Therefore, she sent an invitation letter with all the husband's medical records and documentations to my spouse at the time ( we were not in a relationship yet). He was rejected for the visitor's visa. Now, that we are married and I am sponsoring him to come, is that going to be an issue for us.

No. However he does have to report this visitor visa denial in his application.

It won't affect it. You must include the rejection on your current application or it will be considered misrepresentation. My husband was also rejected for TRV, last year, and we included date of the rejection and application # so they didn't have to go searching for it. I don't think he needs to include details on why he wanted to come/why it was rejected, they can find that information on the TRV application if they decide to review it.

Thank you so much for the reply but where on the application did you put the date because it is only asking if he was rejected for Canada or any other countries and we said yes but I haven't seen any section that would ask for the date. I actually found the date today and was in September 2009.

There is no spot for date. However the application tells you to put in details about it if you answered yes to any 6 a) to 6k) in imm5669 background form. In your case check yes to 6 e). This is where you can put the date in your details.

In the Schedule A form, question 6, point d:

Answer yes, and at the bottom it says: If your answer to any of these questions is YES, provide the details below.

I believe you have to answer yes to both d) and e) just to be safe.

Thank you so much...I have gone through the file so many times and I did not see that bottom of that page OMG.. :o I hope I am not missing any details any where else.. :'( I'll be using a ruler to go line by line to make sure nothing is missed again ???

I just remembered, a couple of years ago his PR application for Australia was rejected. We were both planning to go to Australia at one point ( we just friends at that time). I never applied but he did and he was refused. Should I include that or just mention the visitor visa for Canada? If I include it wouldn't CIC become suspicious as if he is trying to get his immigration paper?

Many thanks everyone for all all your help and replies.

You have to include that one as well. If I recall, the question pertains to visa refusals from any country, not just Canada.

As other have said, you check yes to 6 d) and e).

And yes you must mentioned all visa refusals to any country, including Australia.

Thank you screech339 and Ponga :) Will definitely include them.
