For some reason the lawyer that married us in Costa Rica, made some mistakes on our marriage certificate, for example where it says surname 1 and surname 2 for surname 1 they printed in my middle name and for surname 2 they printed my actual surname. and there are some other infos on the certificate that is incorrect, and I already paid a translator to translate the document, I noticed these mistakes just now and they said they cannot change it, it has to be word for word from the original. Will this cause a problem for me? What sould I do?

is it possible to amend the original marriage certificate? That's what we did with a mistake on our marriage certificate from Vermont.

In lieu of that, a written note that you didn't notice the mistakes til it was translated would probably suffice!

well it wasnt the translator that made the mistakes, it was the lawyer that married us in costa rica, in costa rica they have 2 surnames, so I guess they thought my middle name was my surname number 1 and my actual surname my surname number 2. And they messed up my fatheres surname. Also where it says regular residence, they put Siquirres, Limon, which is in Costa Rica, and that is obviouslly wrong, I reside and always have resided in Canada. I hope it isn't a big deal!

I agree if you can get it changed then do so.If you cant then submitt it and just hope it does not cause delays. As long as it has your names on it in someway it may be ok.But if you can at all get it changed then i would.
