oops this is too much. what if you buy a less expensive car. i mean if your vehicle ranges from $10000 to $15k. will the insurance rate be same?

Wow..! that is a lot.. I pay $113.00 per month in BC..

Yes, car insurance in Ontario, specially in GTA will cost you arm and a leg. it is hugely expensive, specially Brampton is on top, I am taking various online quotations for 2001 Corolla, and the minimum I got is 535 $. which really keep you away from buying a car.

Other than GTA it is little cheaper e.g in London, Burlington, Hamilton, Oakville etc you mat get the same quote for 250-300$

Used cars can be bought cheap, a good 2001 corolla or civic can be bought between 2-3k. Mazda 3, 2004 can be bought between 3-5k

We live in a good basement apartment north of Toronto downtown. The monthly living expenses (couple) are as follows:

Rent - $900 (inclusive of internet, tv and hydro)
Grocery - $300 to $350
Fido cell (2 numbers) - $35 each
PhoneIndia.com - $10
TTC Metro Pass - $128.5 each
Misc expenses - $150

We also started receiving the tax credits for 2012 returns (from June 2013 - July 2014)

GST/HST Credit - $40/month
Ontario Trillium Benefit - $85/month
