Coolguy, thanks for sharing such a useful info and many congrats on achieving your intended milestones. Would you say something about how immigration officers look at us when we just return after a short landing. Do they ask anything about why one is leaving so early ! Don't you think we put our immigration at risk while exiting after a short stay like this. Can't they deprive us of our PR card once they know that we are not serious customers. Somehow I feel that this practice is somewhat risky. Please educate me on the subject if my understanding is wrong.

Hi hasni,

There is no immigration counter while exiting. There are securities (for luggages) and nobody will stamp exit stamp on ur passport.

When u do the check in (luggage submission) airlines staff will see ur passport and that's all. After that ur hand luggage will go under security check.

No one bothered about ur exit without PR card or short term.

Hope u clear now and might be surprised by this process

thanks for clarifying. And how about when you make a second landing, don't you think immigration officer will notice the short span between your first landing and exiting after short stay. In short what i am trying to understand is that after your first landing, how seriously your frequent travelling in and out of Canada and short stay in Canada is monitored !

Thank you Coolguy. I am from Doha Qatar my contact number is 0097455929187 appreciate if you can call me or sms me your contact number

We did our first landing on 15th April 2011 and returned back to Dubai on 30th April 2011. There was never any issue with the immigration when we returned for good on Jan 20th 2012. Your PR is valid for 5 years and you can return anytime in these 5 years after the first landing.

Nobody monitors our movements into/out of Canada. We are not that important! If one is returning to Canada after a long gap (this info we provide on the customs form we fill when entering Canada), immigration officer would, at the most, make you aware of the fact that you could lose your PR if you don't fulfill residency requirement. We should stay in Canada for more than 730 days in first five year period and should be in a position to prove that. It is better to stay for more than 3 years, apply for the citizenship, and be relieved of stay duration worries.

There is a reason why developed countries like UK and Canada don't monitor your exit out out of these countries and before security concerns there wasn't even a real check on what you were carrying out and it has nothing do with our importance 8) 8)

Hold my beer please. I need to give you a 5 :)

Thanks fellas, so no issues for quick in and outs of Canada, just have to meet the min requirement of spending two out of five years and that's all. Got a question here, it applies to principal applicant only or dependants also. Another one ....heard that you got to land within one year of the date you did I your medicals, does this also apply for the principal applicant or the dependants also.
@ Coolguy - any specific reason why you chose only Brampton as you first landing place !
