children don't have to come up with their own proof of residency, just their id's are enough to apply for ohip (i.e. passport and copr or pr card)
and you dont even need to take your children along (though 18 yrs or above have to go by themself) to Service Ontario, but you got to fill the forms for each and sign on their behalf.
Thanks canvis, for explaining Ontario I'd.

Hi BB,
Nice to know that you are also in electrical. I landed on July end this year at Toronto, stayed for 10 days & came back. What is your query? You can send PM.

explorer were you asked to show PR cards at airport while returning !

While returning to my country after a short stay at Canada, no documents were asked or checked other than ticket & passport, that too at the airline counter. My PR card was delivered much later to my friend's address.

after how many days did your PR card reach at your friend's address, did you get it back through courier ! If so,..which courier service, how much did it charge and did they ask what contents are there inside !
Which air line did you travel with while coming back!

Hi All,

I wanted to know that if we land on a week day at toronto, can we get our PR, SIN and Health card done right from the airport itself? I heard that now a days they have counters at the airport to apply for the SIN number but not sure about rest of the cards. Let me know if you have any information on the same...

When you do landing, PR card processing starts automatically. You will also get the SIN no.(SIN no. will serve all the purposes) if it is work-day & time. SIN card will arrive around 2 weeks of time & PR card between 4-8 weeks provided you mentioned a Canadian address while landing. The photographs you submitted during your application process should be as per specification for PR. You have to apply for Health card at Service Canada office or some other place.

It took very long time, around 75 days, because some strike was going on there. Nowadays it takes much less, refer CIC site. Fortunately my friend visited his native place & I got a hand-to-hand delivery of all the cards & docs.

I've used this company TorontoFurnishedRentals (dot) com and they are very good. They offer about 60 apartments throughout the city of Toronto and all the apartments look exceptionally nice.

Also this booking agency might be able to help: FurnishedRent (dot) com

Good Luck!

do u know any sites for Vancouver accomodations? thanks.

While checking my PR card status on line I found that a line is added below decision made line, saying that I entered canada at Pearsons Internationl Airport on such and such date and became a Permanent Resident, does it mean .... my PR card is done !

No. It means you become PR but no relation with the PR card issue.
