MPNP EOI-SW (Expression of Interest - Skilled Workers) - 1st Batch 2015

Hello oijoi !

As far as I am concerned, my belief is that, the basis of the term "occupation" is the applicant's job in the last 5 years. Regardless of his/her course/diploma. Like me, I have two college diplomas, but in the past 5 years I am working in the business field which is far different from my courses. Remember our NOC Code is based on our "occupation".

College/Uni diplomas will give you points but its not the basis of our occupation. This is my take on this issue.

I had worked with mechanical field about 3 years and after that, I switched to IT and now, I'm working in IT field more than 5 years.
So, can I apply under Mechanical or I should apply under IT field.

I consider to apply with Mechanical field because I think there are many chances to look job.

The question on Manitoba website is "What is your current job?"
Then, you would have to pick the right NOC.
I think it will be better to answer the question truthfully and in God's grace you will also receive your LAA just like majority of us here

I am a general physician ,with 4 years of experience, interested in MPNP .But under the resent 2 draws ,it says like this,
For reasons which could include a large existing inventory of un-assessed applications; low labour market-demand; and/or significant barriers to labour market participation, Expressions of Interest from Skilled Workers Overseas in the following occupations have not been considered in this draw:

Registered Nurses
Secondary and Elementary School Teachers
Vocational and College Instructors
University Professors
General and Specialist Physicians

SO, what u experienced people think ,what should i do. apply for expression of interest (they might select the above professionals at the end )or it is of no use for us.

Hi Kamal1234,

Well it's pretty dicey to decide what you should do. I think they keep writing that because physicians and others on the list all need some form of accreditation or the other.

You see, if you really want to go to Manitoba then you might decide to give it try but set time limit for yourself after which you can choose to apply somewhere else. Note however that when you withdraw your application you can only reapply after 2 years.

On the other hand, you can try Saskatchewan they are currently taking people already on the express entry who are in some particular job in demand.I don't know if Physicians are there.

Best still you can apply to British Columbia, they really want health professionals they have special package for you guys. They even have a body that can help you get a job before you come. To me that's the best choice now. Canada is a good place to live no matter where. From my reading of posts i realize that it rear to get job in your profession without being regulated in Canada. So this an opportunity to have Canadian Experience which you can take to anywhere.

My guy, sometimes we need to retrace our steps to grab an opportunity while it exists.

Thanks for your advise and I appreciate your answer.

I consider my old major because, I might get offer letter. To compare between Mechanical field and IT field, the good chance fall in Mechanical field. So, might the immigration officer asks me about conflict that?

lienthanhquyet, idiana is correct! Anyhow, this is just for the purpose of applying to become an immigrant. In the real world, once you're in Canada, you can switch jobs if you want!

Just don't forget to claim 23 points for "Two post-secondary programs of at least two years each"

Hello kamal12345 !

First and foremost, as you may already know, this is an update from the program which was implemented just this year or in the last 2 draws. So at this point no one knows when this will be lifted.

This brings me to a question... do you have a chance or are you eyeing to migrate to other province/s? If you have other options, then my advise is for you to submit an application to the province or program which you think will work best for you or the one which you have a higher chance of getting the nod. But if your answer is no, and you only intend to immigrate to Manitoba, then i should say, it is a wise decision to submit an EOI ASAP so that if and when the non-inclusion of the above mentioned occupations will be lifted, then you are already in the pool. May I know what's your self assessment score?
