Good day to all New here but not a stranger to sponsorship. Thinking our sponsorship was lost since I sent it by courier Dec 13 2017 it was sign for in the mail room at cic Mississauga, but never got any reply nothing even had the courier company retrack the package. I sent a email to cic Jan 23 2018 to try and find out what happened got an email back only yesterday Jan 29 2018 saying they can’t find my application or package. So I just got off the phone at cic they found it and are now checking it all for the correct documents and should be getting a reply soon in email. The lady from cic stated as of today January 30 2018 they are now opening packages dated from December 4 2017 if anyone is worried or wondering what is going on

Thanks for the info! Yes it takes about 8 weeks to receive AOR nowadays...

That’s not good at all. Wait times are slower now then they use to be I did a sponsorship back in 2006 for my now ex wife and I was AOR within 3 weeks and within think it was 4 months total she had a visa. The wait times seem worse now

Oh my! It’s definitely not cheap.

We will have to look into the cost of a shared container. We don’t have nearly enough stuff to fill 20ft!
there are loads of companies that do small shipments. im in Ireland and ive found companies doing approx E700 per cubic metre.

That's true, it seems that waiting times had increased significantly (at least for receiving AOR) because even accordingly to the spreadsheets from the beginning of the last year lots of people were receiving AOR within a month or even less. But maybe they started receiving more applications and that's why it's taking longer now. All we can do is just wait.

This is the email I received from my MP

Hello Jeff,

Per our conversation yesterday, I can confirm that you have there is a PR sponsorship application received March 29, 2017.

The status is as follows:

Sponsor Eligibility: Passed

Applicant Eligibility : in progress

Security and criminality checks: not yet started

Notes indicate that the file was to be sent to the Ottawa CPC (from Mississauga)for the remainder of the processing. To date the file remains in Mississauga. There was an inquiry made on the file, likely trigger from an inquiry you made to the call center on or about Jan 24th. The response from Mississauga was received on Jan 25 indicating that the file was being reviewed and file being sent to Ottawa CPC was pending per this review.

There is nothing currently outstanding on the file i.e. there is nothing IRCC has asked for that you have not provided.

I’ll check on the file in about a month’s time (beginning of March) but if there is any correspondence that comes up in the mean-time please let me know.

Kind regards,

Just when I thought we were almost done, another delay for us, womp womp womp. Need to provide an updated FBI background check. What a pain. :(

How long does an fbi pcc last before expiring?

My wife had a ba ground check done through fieldpoint back in November before coming back to Canada.

How long would this be valid?

It is dated November 25 and we came back to Canada November 26.

From my understanding its 6 months from the issue date.

The correct understanding is it needs to be within the 6 months, when you file your application. And theoretically speaking, if you obtained a PCC from a country after you left there, and never again set a foot in that country, your PCC will be valid indefinitely.

Interesting about the FBI background check. My husband received his in the spring of 2016 (he thinks May). We filed the end of December 2016 and they were fine with it.

I know, I'm super frustrated because they didn't ask for a new one when we submitted the Schedule A in September. I had it done upfront and included it in our mailed application in July. Gah.

Hey guys!

We are a August applicant that has been getting processed by the Mississauga VO from the very beginning, background check has already started in December and ECAS changed to in progress a few days ago- just got an email tonight saying our application has been forwarded to the Los Angeles VO. We are a common-law outland application (my boyfriend is a US citizen). No red flags or anything. Anybody have an idea why we would be forwarded there?

There is a few who have been forwarded to LA who don’t seem to have any red flags
