Is it that expensive to check extra bags? if it's only suitcases...

That's what we're probably planning on doing. It's usually only €50-€100 for an extra bag of 23kg.

Although in addition to extra bags we will also be traveling with a toddler and an infant, which come with a stroller and diapers and airplane toys and snacks and spare clothes and etc etc etc etc. So there's that..... :D

Anyone else have jobs waiting on them in Canada? My husband (PA) was recently offered a dream job in Canada - great work, great pay, great organization. Everything will probably work out, but my biggest nightmare would be this employer having to move on while we're waiting and waiting and waiting for BGC to start...... obviously they know our immigration situation and will wait a while, but not indefinitely!

Ya, I DID....but since this whole process takes forever and a day, I lost it while they needed it to be filled. Nothing I could do...thanks Canada Immigration! Good Luck, I hope it goes well for you!

Oops, yep, this is what I meant! Hoping we'll be one of those cases where we get BGC, decision made and PPR all in the same week :). Now wouldn't that be great....

So happy to see all of the CoPR and landing too - we just submitted in May and the impatience has really started creeping up in the past week or so.

:( March and still waiting for BGC to be finished, Whether or not Medicals were passed, and exactly which office it's actually in...Mississauga I believe. If my medical did pass, they will have to treat me for stress for sure!!!!

OMG I'm so sorry :(. That's awful. I hope you're moving to a province with a good job market, at least.

Do you have any idea why BGC could be taking longer for you? For instance my husband (the PA) lived in three different countries (although they only requested police cert for two of them) so we were wondering if that might complicate it. Just thinking of any ideas, since we're all pretty much left in the dark during this process!

Ours has been in progress for almost 5 weeks and he hasn't lived anywhere other than US.

Just got home from a meeting with our MP. They will be checking to see if there are ANY updates since we sent in our application. NOTHING has ever changed on our ECAS/CIC Webpage since the day we linked it and our application was received. We were just told that yes my medical passed in June, and that BGC is still processing. There isn't any reason at all that would keep it any longer than the regular joe so I have no idea. I sent in two....FBI Clearance (which had to be done twice due to not being able to read the first set of prints, and took a total of 6 months to return a letter to me that said that, so needed a new set, the new set was digital so it went through without any record at all, but that took an additional 5 months.....we received it in the mail the day after CIC requested it THANK GOODNESS!!! and I also sent in a Canada Wide Clearance as well....since I had lived here for longer than 6 months...also cleared.....so....still waiting I guess. If I wasn't completely nuts before all of this started, I certainly will be now! I just want to work, and travel to see my family....have a life :(

Phoned the call centre today to see if I could get any sort of update, was actually able to get through and after almost an hour talk to an agent.
To summarize...completetely useless, once again. Right now I think 12 months will pass without further updates, then it will be interesting to see if I can actually get any proper information regarding as to why my application is taking such a long time.

Timeline so far:
App received, Jan 16, applicant from Sweden
SA, Feb 16
Document request, Feb 20
Medical passed, March 3
Since then, a whole lot of nothing...
Never got anything from Mississauga saying they would process my application, but have been told by both the Ottawa office and the call centre that Mississauga it is. Ordered notes in September which also indicates Mississauga. Last update in my GCMS file except my address changes is from first week in April when they acknowledged receipt of requested document. Since then, nothing... Eligilbility, security and criminality all say Not Started in the file.

got everything seat up for landing tomorrow. any advice??

Excellent news today. We got the approval letter from IRCC today!

I am amazed! Sent app. in Feb. but processing was delayed until July. So that's about 5 months of processing.

A couple of steps to do and might need advice. One bit is that Wife's medical will expire in July 2018 - but I'd like my son to complete the year in UK. Is that a good idea and would IRCC be okay with a short extension to the wife's visa. The other option is that we enter during a term-break and the wife returns and then properly moves in August after school breaks.

So many decision and a lot of work to do!

But we are all so happy! (though I haven't broken it to the cat yet - she is coming with us too)
