Missing Documents Question

Returned to me w/ letter claiming missing documents: March 12 2015

My file was returned to me because my spouse forgot to sign a document.
He's signed it and I'm sending it off first thing in the morning.

Does this set-back put me at the bottom of the pile again? Am I re-starting my "17 months" in regards to processing time? Or will they re-visit what they have already started with my other documents and I'm not completely starting back at 0 months again?

And how does this effect the OWP I submitted with my app (under the one-year pilot program)?
My current WP ends April 15. If I send it tomorrow do I still have implied status? I'm about to have an actual heart attack.

Any help?

If everything was returned to you...it likely means that you are starting the clock all over again.

If you still have your legal status, and CIC receives the application and OWP BEFORE it expires, you will still qualify for the pilot OWP.

I'm going to send it priority tomorrow so it will arrive by the time they get to work on Monday.
Do they need to OPEN it for it to matter, or does it just need to be postmarked in the mail?

I... can't breathe.

They need to RECEIVE it before your status runs out. (It doesn't matter when it was postmarked.)

Agree you are starting from scratch since your entire file was returned. Files are typically returned when a signature is missing.

I'm still not understanding. Receive it as it arrives at the CIC? Or received it as a living breathing person opened it and began processing it? I live in Canada currently so I'm not worried about it arriving in time, I'm just worried about it being opened in time.

I have literally an exact month until my current status runs out.
If I mail it tomorrow and it gets there by Monday, does that count as received?
I can't exactly force them to open it.

Here is what the CIC sent me in an e-mail:

"Implied status - Temporary resident

If you send your application for an extension of your authorization to remain in Canada at the latest on the expiry date of your status, you will be considered in status as a temporary resident (TR) until a decision is made on the application. This is known as an implied status.

If you hold a work permit or a study permit, you can continue working or studying under the conditions of your previous permit only if you have applied to extend your stay in Canada under the same category. However, if you have applied to extend your stay under another category, you must stop working or studying, if applicable, before the expiry date of your permit.

If you leave Canada while under implied status, you may be authorized to re-enter Canada:

As a TR, if your application to extend your stay has not yet been approved*. This applies to you, among other things, if:
are temporary resident visa (TRV) exempt,
held a valid multiple-entry visa upon your return to Canada, or
you have travelled only to the United States** and/or St.Pierre and Miquelon and return to Canada before your status as a visitor, student or worker expires; and
the officer at the port of entry is satisfied that you have sufficient means of support,
As a worker or student, if the officer determines that your application to extend your work/study permit was approved while you were outside Canada, or
If you are eligible to apply for a new work or study permit at your arrival in Canada.
For more information on implied status, please consult our website."

It says "sent". That seems to be contradictory to what you said?

I just realized another problem.

I have recently left and returned to Canada (family member death), making my "most recent entry to Canada" a different date than the one I have on my Generic Application form that I put.
I also have a new stamp now.

Do I need to edit these documents and update them? On the date they were signed, they were true, but things have changed since I submitted my original application almost three months ago.
