Minimum time stay outside canada between two visits for multiple entry visa?

Dear friends,

My parents are visiting me in Canada with 10 year multiple entry visa. They are on their third visit now with the following history:
1. First visit, stayed in Canada for 4 months, then went back to home country for 4 months
2. Second visit, stayed in Canada for 11 months (applied for extension of stay during the period), then went back to home country for 3 months
3. Third visit (the current visit) already got two extensions of stay. Total duration of this visit would be 26 months.

After this visit, if they go back to home country and stay for 4 months, then come to Canada, would they have any issue at the border? Is there any requirement such as how long they have to stay outside Canada between two visits? Would the current long stay (26 months) cause any issue for their future visits? If so what is the recommended action I can take?

By the way, I already applied immigration for my parents to CIC, I wonder whether that would be helpful when my parents enter Canada next time.

Any information/suggestion would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!

There is no rule with regards to a minimum stay outside of Canada between visits. Whether they are allowed back into Canada and for how long is up to the immigration official they encounter at the border. If they have been spending more time in Canada than outside of Canada - then it is possible they may be examined more closely the next time they enter Canada. However it's also entirely possible they will be allowed in without any extra questioning. It's really impossible to predict.

The fact you have applied to sponsor them for PR won't have any impact one way or the other.

Make sure they have a return ticket when they arrive.

Have you personally heard of any cases where visitors got denied for entering Canada because of their previous extended stay? If my parents simply get questioned and examined but would eventually be let in, that is still ok, but if there is great risk of entry denial, I want to do something to reduce such risk.

Yes.

It is more common that CBSA would grant a 1 or 2 months visit permission.

If she goes back for a week and tries to return to reset her visit to 6 months, it's possible she could be refused, as it would seem she's not intending on staying in Canada temporarily. If your mom wants to stay longer, she should apply for a supervisa.

hi. me and my mom we both applied for visa to canada she has 5 years on her passport and i have 3 years. and we applied for same reason to come as a visitors. i got a visa for 3 years multiple and mom got 13 days visa multiple. everyone told us it's 100% a mistake of date. because nobody gives multiple visa for 14 days. and long distance btw to canada. and the imigration gave us 6 mnths in canada and i applied for the pr here for me and accepted and now am good. and after tge 6 mnths i applied for mom and they accepted her to stay 6 mnths more. after 12 mnths i applied and they refused and they told me she muat leave alcanada as soon as possible. and thats what happened.
my question is ?? actully the visa is expired but can i review the embassy again to see if it's a mistake or not. because it's really hard to get the canadian visa in my country. and is that right that nobody gives multiple visa for 5 years passport only for 13 days. ????? please i jeed to know. thanks

Wished to check if you please can share what happened for the subsequent visits for your parents ? We’re they given 6 months of stay in Canada after 4 months of stay outside ?
