Welcome dama2015!

You can expect "around" 12 months total processing time (including SA portion) for your application assuming it is "routine". If it gets approved sooner that's a bonus. It's important to have a realistic expectation of how long it could take otherwise it is easy to become desperate and discouraged about a result.

In the last 4 or 5 pages of this forum you can find the answer to your questions about next steps in your application processing, as well as some information regarding GMCS notes. You should wait around 4 months from AOR2 before considering ordering notes to allow for your application processing to mature.

I would like to add you to our spreadsheet so that you can compare your appl progress to others. It is a very useful tool for all of us.

a couple clarifying questions;

What date did you courier your application to CPC Mississauga?
What date did your husband do his medicals?
What does your husband's ECAS status say? "In Process"? If so, what date?

We all wish you Speedy processing!
Hi! Thank you for your response.

What date did you courier your application to CPC Mississauga?
I send the application by mail on july 20th ...they received the application on july 21st

What date did your husband do his medicals?

My husband did his medical in April 2015

What does your husband's ECAS status say? "In Process"? If so, what date?

Currently my husband ECAS status is IN PROCESS and I notice the change on October 30th...currently it says:
1.We received xxxxxx application for permanent residence on July 21, 2015.
2.We started processing xxxxxx application on September 21, 2015.
3.Medical results have been received.

Is this the time frame most of you have had?
Last I heard was this week, I was asked to send my daughter birth certificate...

Thanks for the update! I have created your timeline and added it to the spreadsheet. Please keep it up to date or post on the forum with updates and I will update it.

Based on the spreadsheet the average is 300 days total, which approx 10 months. Based on your present timeline you "may" have 6 months remaining if your application is routine and well-documented. But it could be less or it could be more. It's really impossible to say. Consider ordering GMCS notes in mid january to see where things are at. Hopefully you will get a decision well before April when your husbands medicals will expire to avoid having to redo the medicals.

Feel free to ask any other questions you might have. There is a wealth of knowledge on this forum.

Once again, Welcome and speedy processing!

Hello,

My parents sent today the PGR background check and the translation to the Canadian embassy and we are just hoping everything goes ok with that, they should receive it by Tuesday as per DHL.

I will send you a message CANzanillo with all the steps that I did to get the PGR police background from Canada and the sources that I used for fringerprints and documents that I sent, I will just wait for my mom to scan the document so I can send you the copy, I would be more than happy to help to get the PGR process faster because I know that a lot of people get stuck in that step and they have to wait for months to get that done. So I also thought that if I get it done by myself (in this case through my parents) the embassy will not have to do an extra job for me in trying to get that document in my behalf and that way I win because I don't have to wait from 3 to 6 months to get that done and they win because they don't have to request it for me. I just hope they accept it with no problem, I will keep you guys posted with that.

Thanks for that info TorontoLove! I would like you to send me a copy of the carta de Poder that you sent. PM me please. I want to make an instructional tutorial and add it to the Spreadsheets. Actually, If you could detail all the steps you took including getting fingerprints etc. I will create a spreadsheet. I think it would be helpful for Mexican applicants. We can quickly point new/existing members to the tutorial.

And jalex23 thanks for the feedback about no personal drop offs at the VO!

Maybe you've already seen this... http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/newcomers/after-checklist.asp

It gives you some good info. Expensive jewelry?? I'd suggest fill out the forms in case they are needed, but with those basics likely not... List 4 items; clothes as a general item, jewelry, computer and camera??

If you get some time it would be of interest to some what the questions they asked you were in the interview. I know each interview is different and yours was pretty obviously just a final confirmation for the VO of your relationship. You had already essentially been approved (subject to the interview) by a senior officer as they had everything ready to issue the very same day. One week left! Well Done and happy landing! I am going to show you as landed on the spreadsheet if that's ok with the Nov 23rd date.

EDIT; LovelyComplex. I see you did Medicals in February of 2015, right after SA, rather than up front. Did you do this intentionally? I assume that when they issued your visa they gave you until Feb 13, 2016 to land?? If you did this intentionally I applaud you. It likely saved you from re-medicals. It is my contention that medicals be done at that stage to try to avoid processing delays and cost of re-medicals.

Something that I consider is the best option, as you will save a lot of time in the process, I can tell you because right now I'm doing the same (a relative asked the police certificate in Mexico in my behalf and will be ready in about 5 days). So, I'm in agree only with the part that is the "most simple procedure ever", but you should comment that also is the procedure that will take more time (even until more than 3 month for some applicants).

In my opinon, if you have the chance than someone request the police certificate in your behalf in Mexico go ahead, will save you tons of time in your process.
Do you have any evidence that the "embassy process" does indeed take more time? I don't, in fact from what I have read it is faster than requesting it yourself.

BTW they send daily requests to PGR, we do know that.

IMO sending it through the embassy is not only the simplest, it is also the least error-prone and fastest. Also for many people that do not have close relatives/friends that have nothing to do on working days (or that need to ask for exceptions in their workplace) is most convinient .

No. You will get to the back CBSA office and asked questions, and they will ask you where is your luggage, if you say you have been living there for a while, they will understand it. Many people do it like this all the time.

(I would assume youur passport shows that you have been in several trips that lasted a few months).

Thanks Jalex23 and Canzanillo

i guess the landing part is the easiest part of the whole process xD i'll try to relax!

for the Medicals, yes i did them after the SA because i actually thought when i read the whole thing for the application that i didn't have to send them up-front and that i was OK to send them after SA. And it was way better because i didn't have to re-do them again. Yes my visa expires feb 2016.

the questions in the interview were very basic, the interviewer was a canadian woman suuuper nice with a very calm attitude. when she asked me serious questions she was very into it and made a serious face. But i guess that's the way it must be. other than that she was very nice, i guess i was lucky that she was nice and open minded about my relationship. I don't know why in some interviews the interviewers are not as nice as she was. <3

Some of questions where, when did you meet?, where did you meet?, why your family didn't go to your wedding?. My answers were quite long, i tried to explain everything with details.

the interview was in english. I got condition 51 on my COPR but it's ok as my relationship is genuine and hopefuly lifelasting <3 :D

one year for get PPR but at the end the wait is worthy.

Haha.. you beat me!

Now for some questions?....
How do I do the following??

( X ) Confirmation of your current mailing address.
( X ) The complete address in which you intend to live in Canada.

I want my husband to send the passport tomorrow cause he works for the next 11 days after that.

Thoughts?
