Hi all, I am a Mexican married to a Canadian and a permanent resident of the US. I am part way through the process of applying for permanent residence in Canada, and the CIC has just requested via email that I provide them with Police Clearance (in my case Mexican PGR). I am slightly lost, but hopefully some of you will be able to provide me with some guidance.
As I say, I have received the email request from the CIC, and since I am in the US, I know I need to send my fingerprints etc., to the Canadian Embassy in Mexico--so that they can forward them to the PGR and request from them a "Constancia de Datos Registrales" on my behalf. Reading information on the PGR webpage, it appears that the PGR also need some kind of letter from the Embassy--but it's not clear to me what this letter consists of. Is it a letter that the Embassy would write, perhaps just requesting that the PGR undertake a background check on me? Or might it be a copy of the email letter (which is in English) that the CIC has sent me, telling me to get the PGR Police Clearance? If the former, would the Embassy provide this letter directly to the PGR? Do I need to contact the Embassy in Mexico City first, or just send them (via courier) my documents?
Finally, the CIC webpage about requesting the Mexican Police Clearance provides no address for the Embassy in Mexico City that I am supposed to send the materials to. Does anyone know if the correct office (Embassy) is the one at Schiller 529 in Mexico City?
Thanks very much to all of you for your interest and any help!!
