actually funny thing about the purolator package i just sent.. they told me it was 5 days service and i shipped it Thursday and it arrived yesterday!! So at least it was good service for paying that much :)
Well, that's good news:)

Certain others promise 24 hours and it often ends up being 48. :(

Also has anyone had to get the ARC?
All I know is I will need it eventually and I will have to pay $400
But I have no idea at what point they will ask us for it.. How long it takes.. Or if there is anything I can do in advance?
we will most likely need an arc as well.
usually its the last thing they ask for before they issue the visa.
it may come with a PPR or it will come first than PPR right after its approved.

i have talked to a few people who have had to do one this year from a couple different countries and the average time is 2-2.5 months for these people. so i would say thats a pretty good guess unless the case is complicated.

oh ok i see thanks! I think my husband and I probably have 6-8 months to go then...
so for the PPR do you know is it just that they literally ask you to send in your passport and thats it?

a normal passport request. you can either send in your passport and they will send it back with the visa.
or you can go to the embassy in person and hand in your passport and pick it up later the same day.

but for the arc. if they ask for the arc by itself. once its approved they will ask PPR either mail in. or pick up in person.

but if they ask for arc and PPR together, than your only option is to send in your passport with the arc and they will hold it till its approved and put ur visa in your passport and than i think they call you or email you to either come pick it up or have it delivered back to you.

but yeah thats pretty much it just give them your passport so they can put the visa in it and pick it up and your good to go :D

I know its terrible!! I'm going to start booking flights vs sending by courier cuz at this rate it will be the same price !! LOL
I think DHL is the best for Mexico? But in Canada its not as popular..in my opinion everyone always wants to use Purolator..

Do you know or does anyone know if you send a DHL courier to Mexico can you send it directly to a DHL office and then write "Hold for pick by (persons name) the same way you can in canada? Will they know what that means? So I can just have my husband go in and grab it after he gets off work?

We've had a lot of problems getting courier to my husband because his apartment little complex is gatted and the number of it isn't displayed anywhere..he literally had to write his name and address on a paper tape it outside on the fence and then sat outside from 9 to 5 on his day off waiting for the courier because we were so afraid if he missed it. It would take even longer to get and they wouldn't leave a notice and we wouldn't know where to pickup

Yes you can send it to a DHL office and pick it up there, I have done it!

i dunno where he went first
but usually notaries arent to expensive. i mean they shouldnt be all they really have to do is sign a paper and stamp it with a seal.

Need more info to make sure.

Given 'Direccion de Servicios Periciales' I'm leaning toward PGR - but there isn't enough info in the portion you quoted to be sure (direccion de servicios periciales just means forensics division)

Actually notaries in Mexico are different from the US (for example). They are lawyers who have advanced degrees who have worked several years in another notary's office. To become notaries, they then have to take a special notary exam (whole day affair - like boards for doctors or lawyers with oral and written components). There's limited number of spots available so when one becomes available they offer the exam and the top scorer gets the license.

For true copies, they keep registers of each copy they make and submit those to the government (given the legal nature of the copies) - so it's closer to getting a legalized or apostilled copy in other countries.

In general, notaries in Mexico they tend to do draft deeds and other very detailed legal documents. So, their services are more expensive than those of 'notaries' in US and Canada.

Similar names, very different roles and responsibilities...

They will also usually hold it at a courier's office if you aren't home. If they can't find the address, they will hold it and call the recipient or sender for clarification :)
