I feel your pain for the money thing

I am fortunate enough to be in mexico with my spouse while we wait.
but that being said
we have been back here since march 31. and my spouse has been looking for a job everyday sending out resumes, talking to people going to interviews. we even went to gdl for 2 weeks for a set of interviews. at different places. (he has a degree in custom broker and speaks english well too) so he went to call centers, customs agents at the airport. old bosses.banks.warehouses and there is absolutly no work it is horrible! its hard to experience mexico if you have no money and no job. the situation here is bad. and its really hard on him too hes incredibly stressed out, he paid good money for a degree that he cant even get use out of, the government said they were hiring custom brokers for all over mexico, butthe requirements are you dont need a degree in customs but you need your army clearance (so he cant get that job, it wasnt mandatory for army service when he was growing up)

its bad here for jobs. how many pesos a month is he making?
the jobs we are looking for are only paying about 5,000-7,000 per month, which is really nothing im sure you know :(
And I also feel your pain, my fiance had a horrible time as well when he returned. He spent the first 3 months in GDL doing the same, pounding the pavement everyday, interviews, talking with family and friends and nothing. He decided to try his luck in PV, so he went there for two months and stayed with friends, everyday looking for work and nothing so he returned to GDL. Once back in GDL again same situation. He is now working at his cousins restaurant (they cant really afford an employee but have given him the job so he has something). He is currently only making about 2000 pesos a month. He is living with his family so does not need to pay rent and commutes with his cousins. But he also has two daughters that have many expenses, so it gets eaten up quite quickly.

My husband isn't much better off. Even if you do get a job, you can be treated like crap, and/or you can fight to get your pay check as well. He makes enough to support himself, but no extras. And he's put so much in to finding a job. I know it can be extremely frustrating, especially by Canadian standards. Hopefully everyone will be working in Canada soon enough. Missmymexi.. I'll ask my husband if he knows of any jobs.

Awe. yeah its so sad. i kept telling my finance to relax and something will come. but than i just kick myself everytime we get close and fall flat on our feet again. its hard to make him feel better, when while in canada he was making really good money and in his own country with a degree he cant find work.

Wow i cant believe all that work and he still couldnt find anything. im so sorry to hear that!. i really hope your process moves quickly and get out of this situation. :) <3

does your husband speak really good english, as for his grammar does it need work or is it very good? theres a company called Teletech in GDL, its a call center, and they pay 8,500 pesos a month, but they are looking for people who speak with very good grammar. my fiance speaks great english but his grammar isnt perfect so they didnt hire him. but if yours does, its worth a try!.

We are living with family aswell. and they own a cafe restaraunt too. but also they dont need any more staff and they would only pay about 2,500 a month for 12 hours a day 6 days a week. so i mean even for us we dont have kids just a really big dog that is barley anything. so i can see how your husband would be left with pretty much nothing if he is supporting 2 children aswell.

Just remember after a few months we will all be in Canada! and everything will get much better! :)

I will do the same :) They have different areas of expertise so he may know something that would suite your husbands qualifications. I feel very bad for our men in this situation, its so frusturating for them and demeaning not being able to support themselves. I assume your husband was in Canada before, I think you said, but cant remember of the top of my head. I think its hard if you have been here and easily been able to find work and make enough to send home and then find yourself in this sort of situation, I know it wears on my finance very badly. And yes, soon enough, the good news for both of them is its not a forever situation and there is hope in the future !

lol, that is so funny that you say that, he did apply for teletech, he went through 3 interviews but did not get hired in the end and it was also because of grammer ! to funny. I find it hilarious that that was the case, since english is my first language and he is constantly correcting my grammer !

No he's never been to Canada, we met in Mexico. Demeaning is unfortunately how he feels too. Mexican men are very proud. It took him a while to want to come to Canada, because he felt like it would mean he was failing in Mexico and we had no choice. He really doesn't have any idea what it is like here.. but I hope he likes it.. because we're staying for a while! :)

hahah! okay so teletech is crazy!!
my fiance used to manage a very busy restaraunt for 2 years in canada with people from all over the world working under him and never once did anyone find it hard to understand him
so i thought oh for sure you can get a job speaking english, your english is at an advance level.
than after 7 hour interview 3 different levels too. they said no the grammar isnt quite good enough come back in a month
i was so bad i was ready to yell at them! they have way to hire of standard!

haha but now i will tell my fiance he wasnt the only one and maybe he will get a laugh out of it. and itll boost him back up.
he always makes jokes now, about how he cant speak english cause teletech told him he cant. haha

haha mine corrects my grammar sometimes too because im from alberta so people always tell me i talk "lazy".. whatever that means haha. :p

thats too funny!! :p

TSauretBaxter: so true mexican men are some of the proudest ive ever known!, but your husband will love Canada for sure! :D

We met in Cancun while I was on vacation. We don't have any kids either, just a dog as well. Are you bringing your dog to Canada? We may have already talked about this.. but I'm not sure if it was your or not, it can be confusing on here until you get to know people :)

yeah well we met in canada, so we got our dog in canada when she was 7 weeks. and when we came here we brought her to mexico with us! :D so yes she will be coming back to Canada when we go for sure! (although it is going to cost us an arm and a leg to bring her back,we have to ship her cargo because of her size, thats the only bad part, but i dont regret bringing her at all! ) :)

Haha, when I wrote this reply I thought I was replying to Leisa but it certainly applied to you too :) Yes, Mexican men are very proud, which is a quality i have grown to love (for the most part ! lol), so very hard on all our boys for sure, I truly feel for them. Its funny that you say that about failing in mexico, that is how my fiance felt before he came to Canada, once here, his whole perceptions changed and I am sure his will too ! He will be able to work half as hard and make twice as much ! Where are you guys going to live ? I think he will love it here, once he gets use to the weather lol, my fiance was wearing a parka in august, cracked me up !

Absolutely ! I am going to pass that on as well, he was so bummed when they turned him down. But to be honest they had a very weird set up and I think to actually make the 8000 pesos per month would be very difficult. Although my fiance does have another friend that was deported about 6 months before him and did pass the testing and now works there, he does alright there, so who knows ...

haha oh nice! i love boxers haha yeah no kidding. we have an italian mastiff, they are born with a double layer of fur meant for the artic, so we were nervous to bring her here incase she would over heat or something. but surprisingly she took to the heat great, after about a week she was fine.

your boxer is going to take such good pictures!, it will blend in with the snow! :p

MissMyMexi: i just told my fiance about it and he laughed, i think it made him feel not so bad, now he can blame it on them and not himself. yeah i have a friend who is mexican canadian, she lived most of her life in canada and recently went to mexico to experience the different lifestyle and she worked at teletech for about a month and she said she hated it, everyone had a stick stuck up there butt, was pretty much her exact words. so maybe it wasnt so good after all. lucky for the people who do get in though and make an okay amount of money
