My meds also expired and I was trying to be proactive. It didn't work. The form that they send you to re-do the medical exam has a bar code with your information on it. If you try to print a generic form, it won't have the bar code. This is what the embassy told me and why they advised me not to do it (you know, with things being "misplaced" all the time) so indeed I got the email asking me to re-do the meds and the form with my info does have a bar code. Hope this helps!

Can you tell me a little more about how long you waited for getting the email and forms; and how much longer after that you heard from the embassy? (Sorry, if you've previously said - I'm not up to speed on your backstory).

Agreed -- I'm quite sure the bar code on the forms was what the doctor's office was getting at when they told us we couldn't get an appointment without the forms/instructions from embassy. The problem is that I go on for awhile thinking we can't proceed on our own; then I read on other threads that people are successfully getting re-meds without the forms. It seems to vary a lot from country to country which confuses the issue a lot for people (like me!) who really want to be proactive and want to save some time.

So, onwards. I guess perhaps the request will arrive in the next *batch* lol. The waiting continues...

Between CIC matters and my chronic petition signing on other irritating governmental issues - my MP and I are on a first name basis actually

Coles Notes version: after I found out CSIS had completed their checks and we still had heard nothing from CIC, the MP followed up and was able to confirm that the file was pending receipt of results from another screening "partner". Since then we have basically had silence or the typical "your file is processing, nothing further is required at this time" responses. Until recently when we received the "in queue for review" message. I'm hopeful that we're finally going to see some movement on our case soon. I just ordered new GCMS notes last week just to confirm whether Background/Security is now showing completed.

No I don´t think it has to be translated! I hope not! We handed it in personally at the embassy and the guy did read it and he never said anything about translations.

I don't usually rock the boat, but since you've already had a long wait mrandmrsromero, let me throw some thoughts out there:

1) The visa office probably prefers to have you wait for a few reasons:
- They don't want people yelling at them if the redo of the medicals expires and the VO then requests another one. You have to understand (as I think you do) that that's the risk you would assume. The trade-off is the benefit you could get of faster processing and of not having to redo security/background checks, police certificates, etc.
- It doesn't count against a VO when they request additional information since the clock measuring how long it takes an application to be processed stops ticking when they are waiting for external input. So your incentives are not aligned on timing.
- It is probably marginally easier to process medical forms that have the info of the applicant pre-printed. However, they were able to put the medical together with your application the first time around so there's no reason they can't do it this time too (especially if you put the applicant's UCI number and case number on the medical exams and send confirmation to the visa office to close the loop. If edgarsitow has a copy of the medical request form with bar code he can give you insight on what was on it that may help you put any other info they had on there; however, the panel physician should know what's needed too). For medicals, the process is that the Panel Physician does the exam and mails everything to the Regional Medical Office (Port of Spain for Mexico). They evaluate the facts and make an assessment (takes 2-3 weeks usually) which then gets fed to CIC.

2) The DMP handbook even allows them to do simultaneous medical exams if applicants request them (see quote below) and just asks that the DMP alerts the RMO about it) so there's no reason why you couldn't do one years later (as I see it).

"Simultaneous or Duplicate IMEs

Occasionally, applicants may be seeking examination at two locations at the same time. In addition, DMPs may encounter applicants presenting for a second IME while the initial examination is still in process. If a DMP becomes aware that an applicant has recently been examined at another location or is currently undergoing another Canadian IME, the DMP must notify the responsible regional medical office."

(3) PLUS, since you and your MP on a first name basis - and he actually is helpful - you could always use his office to help you if there's any issues.

The manual says police certificates do need to, HOWEVER folks typically haven't translated the PGR ones with no issues reported to date

I know that CPC-O (Ottawa) now tries to speed up the processing of successful appeal cases by kicking off the security and background checks for successful appeals. CPC-O also does the full processing for low-risk successful-appeal applications at CPC-O instead of sending the application back to the originating visa office. I wonder if they also kick off medical requests so it's all ready for the visa officer or just have them processed in Ottawa.

Has anyone done medical exams recently in Mexico that got that info from their Panel Physician? Not that it really matters since it's internal and you can even have the medical exams performed anywhere but it would satisfy curiosity
