Medical Exam Validity Extension - Let's share our timelines!

Hi Everyone,

I'm sure you've all heard of the new policy that allows the VO to request an extension on the validity of medical exams, provided that they have been completed within the last 15 months and their expiration is the only thing preventing the issuance of the PR. ( If you haven't, you can read about it at http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/resources/manuals/bulletins/2012/ob423.asp

Anyhoo, I thought it would be helpful if we all posted here to keep track of our timelines. I've heard that the process is expected to take 2-3 weeks, but is that really the case?

To get started, my VO requested our extension on Jul 24. Haven't heard anything as of yet.

hi there, my vo Detroit requested extension June 7th and received approval email July 31st. We are still wating on COPR.

I really don't understand why they're taking so long with this process! It's brand new, so it's not like they have a back log or anything

My VO made a request for an extension on 23 July.

Still not heard a word from them.

They say 2-3 weeks.

On Monday I will get into a 4 week of waiting.

Lets hope will not wait for 8 weeks like Lasiar did... ???.

I don't know what's going on, my Medical already expired few months ago May 26, 2012 till now I haven't heard anything from our VO like if they extended my medical or inform me to redo it . All I have to do is to wait and wait and wait...

You should try to contact your VO, as they can only request the extension within 15 months of the date the medicals were done, so you'd need them to do that this month

how did u find out that your VO had asked for an extension? do u get an email? or had your ordered gcsm?

Our VO sent us an email saying that they had requested the extension

My VO told me on the day of my interview that they will make right away a medical extension request to the main office London, and will take only 2 to 3 weeks of waiting.

Then I shall have news next week.

I will keep you guys posted.

It will not take 8 weeks, next week we'll get some news...

Sorry for the waiting, I guess now its more difficult than never...the last step of your husband's application.
There is only a few day to wait.. .

As for me when I will get PPR letter, I am planning to go by myself to the Embassy, I will spare myself from a few more days of anxity...

Hi jam girl. my husband (applicant) received the extension request via phone call, the IO stated he was submitting the extension and would take 2-3 weeks. that was back on June 7/12 :
