That is so true. The employer won't sign on the spouse (PA) because the government won't issue a health card to a visitor.The wait times are getting out of hand. 13 months for an inland sponsorship?
In our case we have no need for a work permit. The issue is the elective healthcare.
It is annoying to have to drive across the border for anything which isn't covered by the travel insurance (which is a lot); and there is no such thing as fully private health insurance available in Canada for visitors, I don't even think it exists for citizens. The insurance companies always want OHIP to cover the biggest portion first.
