What all is completed in your application?I am getting close to passing 14 months of waiting and with one year of no updates.
I contacted my MP a few weeks ago and I got the same usual 'no update, still in progress' kind of response. Except, this time they also said (for the very first time) that my application is non-routine (even though NON of their reasons on their website applies to me). They said they cannot provide the reason why my application is non-routine.
My MP told me to wait 2-3 months again before reaching out for another update.
So, it seems like there is no end in sight for me at this time.
At what point do you guys say enough is enough and take the legal route?
MP’s are of no use. They dont do anything apart from giving you the same update that is visible to you on your application status dashboard. What worked for me is when I put in a access to information request with CBSA and my application started moving after that. But with your application deemed non-routine, not sure if putting in request with CBSA will be of any help. May be give it a try and wait for a month before exploring other options??I am getting close to passing 14 months of waiting and with one year of no updates.

How do you put information request with CBSA, can you share the link ? I am in a same boat, in progress from last 13 months, only TEST is passed all other parameters not even started.MP’s are of no use. I think my background check is with CSIS. I have requested access of information twice in the past year and I have got the same response which basically says "We are still doing your security clearance, we can't give you more details due to confidentiality and safety reasons."MP’s are of no use. I got the GCMS notes anything specific to look for?Try getting GCMS notes. Will help you understand where it is stuck.
I got the GCMS notes anything specific to look for?I think there are 2 things to note:
1) Fingerprints requested - that automatically makes your file a non-routine file. Yet, like I've said probably dozens of times here, the "non-routine" designation is used whenever it's convenient to IRCC, so it probably means nothing.
2) BG not completed - So this may be CBSA or CSIS that's causing the delay. GCMS notes will tell you more on which one is it. You can also request for CSIS notes at the same time you request for GCMS notes, just to save you some time.
Do you know which office is handling your file? If you don't, the GCMS notes will tell you. May be able to shine some light on why is it slow too...
So the online tracker would likely tell you steps other than Oath as completed or in progress, but that's not entirely true. The GCMS notes would actually tell you if a specific step has started or not. Other things to note are which office is handling your file and if any other agencies are working on your file (eg. CBSA, CSIS, RCMP).I got the GCMS notes anything specific to look for?
i am in the same situation, my background check still in progress, my app. was submitted 1 may 2023, last update was last April when submitted my fingerprints . not sure how long does it takes for background check to be completed.Hello everyone,
After almost 16months, and a year since any past update, I finally got my lpp completed.
My application was submitted on May 15th, Aor June 5th 2023.
Only background check in progress, any idea how long it would take after my lpp to get it completed?
Sorry to hear this. All I can say is that you are definitely not alone! There are many that are still waiting. Some applied even before us!I submitted application in May 2023. AOR Jun 2023. Test passed in Sep and Physical presence and language passed in Oct 2023 after interview. Background and prohibitions are still pending. This is so frustrating for me seeing everyone else in my batch already had ceremonies. It has started to have a mental toll on me and is affecting my everyday life including my performance at work. Don't know what I can do. This is so frustrating
