- Your passport from your current country of citizenship (let's call it HOME country) has nothing to do with Canadian Citizenship application. You are not a Canadian Citizen until you do your oath. So you can keep using your old passport until your oath date as long it is still valid and not expired.
- Canada allows dual citizenship so you can actually possess a Canadian passport and passport from HOME country as long as your HOME country allows for dual citizenship.
For example -
1. A US Citizen who applies to become a Canadian Citizen can continue using both US and Canadian Passports. As both US and Canada allows dual Citizenship.
2. An Indian Citizen who applies to become a Canadian Citizen cannot continue using their Indian passport when they take an oath to become Canadian Citizen. They will be required by Indian law to renounce their Indian Citizenship and surrender their Indian passport.
3. A Pakistani Citizen can possess both passports and can continue using them as both countries allow dual citizenship.
