Hi Das67,consider yourself lucky that they did not send your application back instead. Sending a letter explaining why your daughter's passport did not cover the eligibility period should be fine and sending a copy of your old passport to cover the rest of your eligibility period should be fine too.
Thank you very much for your comments. Yes, consider lucky as CIC didn’t send back me and my daughter's citizenship application.
For my application, now I know, after I checked back my scan copy CITIZENSHIP application under Q14, I choose YES and in table A, I wrote both current and expired passport, but I forgot to put a photocopy of my expired passport.
But for my daughter under minor citizenship application, under 9C, I should provide an explanation in the box. But CIC wrote,
"You must include photocopies of the biographical pages of any passports and/or travel documents that cover the five (5) years immediately before the date of the minor’s application, or since the date, the minor became a permanent resident, whichever date is more recent" that means whichever is more recent and for my child case, she only receives her PR on 28-Sept-2015 and now CIC asks me to provide 5 years eligibility from 05-May-2015 which is earlier than my child PR date 28-SEPT-2015. NOT SO CLEAR. Anyway, I already provide an explanation. I hope they will accept it.
Yes, I already send a copy of my old expired passport and an explanation letter for my daughter why not cover 5 years period, I hope they can accept.
I sent to them by email, by upload all documents to a web form, send by fed-ex to PO address, and send by fed ex to Dorchester street address also as I do not want to delay the whole application process for both me and my daughter.
