Do IRCC have any tracking information for the package? They must have some way to tell you where it is because they can’t just send your personal data in the mail and not know where it is. What did they say when you called them?
When i called them they said we have sent tour file back but we dont gave any tracking number , because it is nomal mail and they sent on 10th july.
Rest they dont know anything ☹

Bad news. Just received our second application back to us... after 78 days of reviewing our application. They say we didn't include a signed IMM0008 form and a signed IMM5710 form. Husband signed both of these forms electronically and their checklist doesn't say you need to also physically sign these forms. Can anyone verify if a physical signature is also required for these forms? We are so frustrated to be back to step one.

Part of the conditions for applying inland is that your spouse must maintain legal status in Canada while they wait for a decision (source) meaning they do not have implied status. Only certain applications (TRV, Visitor Record, Work and Study Permit extensions) give you implied status while you wait for a decision, Sponsorship/PR isn't one. Since the US is visa exempt, there isn't a visa to extend, hence the visitor record (and if you have a visitor record and a valid travel document, you should be able to leave and reenter canada as long as it's before the end date of the extension, as verified with a CBSA officer last time I crossed back into Canada). I don't actually know if you can get a visa at all due to the US being visa exempt, but I have heard of people being granted a TRV/visitor record at the border in cases like theirs
Ok yes, I see what you're saying, take a look at this though and let me know if you're thoughts have changed:
"A temporary resident must apply to extend their period of authorized stay before it ends. If they have done so, their period of authorized stay as a temporary resident is extended by law until a decision is made [R183(5)]. Such a person is considered to have implied status as a temporary resident during that period." - so technically, isn't applying for sponsorship an application to extend your period of authorized stay before it ends? hence, whoever applies has implied status?

To quote a tweet directly from IRCC "Your PR application itself does not provide legal status in canada" (source). That would mean no implied status.

Also there was a question in the help centre related to this but the answer wasn't quite as clear. The gist of it is that submitting an application for PR does not give you temporary resident status, therefore theres no status to imply while you wait.

Personally, I assume this is why they open up OWP to inland PR applicants (you've already proven yourself admissible to canada and it gives you legal status to remain in the country while you wait)

Edit: Also, implied status only applies when there's no change of conditions. So if you enter Canada as a visitor and apply for a visitor record or a new visitor visa, you can have implied status (as long as you apply before your status expires, of course) until a decision is made. But if you enter Canada as a visitor and apply for a study permit (a change of the conditions of your stay) you don't have implied status and must leave if your status lapses before a decision is made (source). Which is why applying for an OWP also doesnt give you implied status.

Thats right. Thats what ive read here on this site. Also i was on pgwp before my husband sponsored me. My status expired and had to extend my stay as a tourist visa.
It's basically either getting full time employment with OWP or getting AIP on the sponsor app.

Yes, OWP was linked a week after AOR for me.
Hi, quick question, my husband sponsored me does that mean i have to link the application on his cic account? Or i can do it on my account itself? Ive been trying to link it and we received aor on the 18th of july but no luck. Thanks for future response.

For anyone who has gotten your OWP, did you get your sponsor approval before or after? No one has updated the excel doc with their SA date so I wasn't sure!

Hi Guys,
Quick question.

I am using a rep for my file.
When i try to link my app they said i cannot do it unless i fill out a form that i dont need my rep anymore.

Any way to bypass this?? Or i just have to wait for my rep everytime if there is any update.

If you use a rep, your rep is supposed to do all these communication for your and inform you on any update.

OWP is way before SA. It comes pretty much right after AOR
We got our AOR last week and our SA today. No OWP though, and haven't been able to link my OWP to my account (but that could be operator error and not their fault)

That s fast for SA, you should get your OWP soon then. I was able to link mine a week after AOR and got approval a couple days after that
