Hi Guys, yesterday My MyCIC got updated saying that background check is in process, before it was saying not started. but Eligibility is still in process as well.
Anyone know what that means?
Does everyone need to go through background check or I'm just the unlucky one?

thanks

Where is your VO? What is your timeline? Thanks

Just to tie everything up, went through the land border today. All I had to do was initial and sign the two copies of the COPR.

The one with my photo was kept and will be for the application of the card.

The other was stapled in to my passport. Literally no questions other than confirming my address. Went to Service Canada and had my SIN within 30 mins.

Good luck all!

On the contrary, you are very lucky! Within a week, you will get PRR if everything goes right in your BGC.

Congrats! We landed Sept 20, also a nice and smooth experience with both landing and SIN.

Hey everyone!

So I posted my application in in March and it was received in Canada on the 18th and didn't start getting processed until May the 10th. It is being processed in the Sydney office. I signed up to the CIC account tonight and my status is as follows:
Application/Profile Status: Open
Review of eligibility: Review in progress
Review of medical results: Passed
Review of submitted documents: Blank??????
Scheduling an interview: Not needed at this time
A background check is needed: In progress
Final decision: Not started

How far away do you think I am from a final decision and then how lang after the decision am I able to enter Canada as a permanent resident? I am in Canada at the moment visiting my partners family and friends. Do you think I will have to go back to Australia or am I close enough to completion that I might be able to wait it out on a visitor visa? I have only been here for a week and a half so i have a fair bit of time left on it. I only found about this CIC account where you can check your status tonight. Wish I had known about it earlier!!

Hi!

MyCIC has only been available for spousal sponsorships since July 23rd of this year, so you didn't miss much :)

Usually when your background check is in progress, it doesn't take much longer to receive COPR. For some it's a week, for others it's more. But I doubt it's gonna take months for you from here.

Have you checked out the timelines of the people that share the same visa office with you? That usually helps give you an idea.

Thats good news for sure!!
I haven't checked the timeline. Is there a way to do that or do I just have to find posts from people that have used the same office as me?

There's usually a thread for every Visa Office. Just scroll through the Family Sponsorship threads and you'll find it or use the search function.

no activity so far. Did someone get a decision made from the VO other than Ottawa yet?

Hello Benjaminbutton21,

My wifes' application too was sent to Sydney visa office. She lives in the Fiji Islands and I am in Vancouver, Canada. Her application was received on the 4th of March and Sydney started working on the 24th of May.

Accrediting to the timelines it should be 10 months but i know of cases that took less time to be processed. I still haven't heard anything from Sydney visa office.

This is what we see when we Login:

Application/Profile Status: Open
Review of eligibility: Review in progress
Review of medical results: Passed
Review of submitted documents:
Scheduling an interview: Not needed at this time
A background check is needed:Not started
Final decision: Not started

Your timeline gives me positive vibes. Please do keep me posted on your progress.

Kind Regards

Hey AARCEE

Yeah it sounds like we are on pretty similar timelines then. I wish I had known how to check the progress earlier so I knew how long the background check had been in progress. From what I have seen it sounds like once they start the background check then it is pretty close to being finalised. I really hope so. It seems that others have had their application processed a bit faster than me. I was told by friends who had done PR not to do the medical until they request it which in hindsight and after chatting to a few other people was probably the wrong way to do it. I guess that could account for the delay. I'll post on here when I get it though so you have a better idea of when yours will come through!! Good Luck!!

My background check has been in progress for over a week now.
I heard someone got DM in as soon as a week and some other people got stuck in background check for 2+ months.
I guess it really depends on individual situation and visa office.
