I called CIC yesterday and the agent told me that my application has notes on it already and based on this, he's pretty sure that it has been looked at. But then again, there's still no decision regarding my SA.

That's strange Fiona. I got my AOR around the same time as you, but I already got SA a week ago. Perhaps they have to check more parts of your application (hence the notes)? Maybe they need to check a few references and parts of your reestablishment plan. Did you include an offer of employment letter or letter of support from family? If so, they'd prob have to check the references...
Anyhow, I'm rooting for you! Hopefully soon...

For people are still waiting you might get or not why there is delay if you order the GCMS notes. I know it's lit early, but just to kinda have a bit of an idea.

Under privacy act you can only request information about yourself. However if you're requesting information on someone else's behalf then you'll have to request under access to information act. You can also request for information for yourself under access to information act. This is how cic differentiates both below:

PRIVACY ACT
Personal information is usually requested under the Privacy Act.
The purpose of the Privacy Act is to protect the privacy of individuals with respect to personal information about themselves where it is held by a government institution and to provide individuals with the right to access such information.

Note: Personal information which belongs to an individual who is not a Canadian citizen, a permanent resident of Canada or currently living in Canada must be requested under the Access to Information Act.

ACCESS TO INFORMATION ACT

All government records (which include corporate documents and personal information) may be requested under the Access to Information Act.

The application fee for request made under that Access to Information Act is $5.00 and processing fees may also be charged under some circumstances.

The purpose of the Access to Information Act is to provide a right of access to records under the control of a government institution to Canadian citizens, permanent residents, or any individual or corporation present in Canada.

If you will check the April2016 thread, some of them just got SA last week (or this June). So I guess, we are still in the "normal" processing time.

Called CIC today and the person said I am still in the process of being assessed, and all I can do is WAIT

Dont stress now as you will continue to do so until the request of the passport.

Hi All,
Decided to join the band wagon....

Sponsoring a Spouse (Wife)

Application sent by currier on May 3rd.
Application received on May 5th.
AOR1 received on May 17th.

No SA.

Called them today and they said that a note yesterday has been added to the application indicating that the application is been reviewed and probably additional checks required.
They said that they cannot tell me any dates since it is not up to them (obvious, but I guess they have to say that). After that they said I shouldn't call back as I should be getting my SA soon.
Strange enough they said, it will probably be e-mail, but it could be e-mail, regular mail or even a phone call!.

Also they mentioned that they cannot leave any note on the file since a note was added yesterday, which indicates that an officer is already working on the application.

LOL. I was thinking the same thing. It's been a month or two and we can't wait. How come we can wait for a year or more for the full process ???

When sponsoring someone else, the wait is fine. But when sponsoring spouse, it's hard to wait

Nope. I am here in Canada. I think it's just a routine check. The agent says it looks good, but did not elaborate on the notes.

It's because someone actually has to be willing to make one . Spreadsheets are made by regular members of the forum.

Of course, I just thought it was odd someone made one for every month I've looked, except the month I actually applied. Oh well! Saves me time, not feeling obligated to update after every milestone.
