Hi Vinz,

Yes it is a very long wait for something by email or mail. The consistent answers by different CIC represtatives seems to imply they have a good reason but they don't seem to want to tell you why. Maybe something in your past is making them do extra intense checks of any divorce, criminal, security, financial or social assistance history. Keep calling once a week to see if you get a new answer, maybe using a polite but worried tone rather than an angry or exasperated tone. Check ECAS if you have your UCI number for it.

Thanks for your reply smoothsailing. I have got nothing. My documentation is very simple, only marriage, no any kind of financial, social or criminal history, this goes for my wife too.

I have check our application online
Filed: 13 may 2015
Started processing 15 june 2015

(Still i havent received my AOR yet)

What else can I do?

I read of people requesting the assistance of their MP to enquire after normal processing time has long passed and no luck with their own normal enquiries. The onea I have seen have been with the visa office of the applicant rather than still at the sponsor stage at Mississauga but it could be permitted too. Do a search in the whole site for MP assistance.

Or make a request as a Canadian under the privacy Act for CIC GCMS notes, giving your UCI and file numbers. But that will take 1 month. It will tell you what they have done so far in the processing.

Your case sounds similar to mine. We went past the the processing date listed on the CIC site and I started calling once a week. Be very matter of fact and use something similar to this every time you call.

"Hello - Our sponsorship application was filed in May and went in process on June 15, and we have yet to hear anything and sponsorship approval. Since the processing times state that July applicants are in process, we are past that timeframe, so I want to see where application is at"

Don't mention having called before or what other agents have said - that just opens up questions, and you want to make the agent go find out what's going on. Depending on what the response is once they come back, then you can give additional info from other agents if you feel like it will help.

In my case, it turned out the file had been sent to the visa office in Ottawa prematurely, so it was sent back to Mississauga. Took me about 6 weeks to get that info, and then the same week they told me that, sponsorship was approved.

I personally don't think it does much good to call more than once a week, but definitely be diligent about at least doing that, and making sure whatever agent you get actually goes and checks to see what's happening. If you get an uncooperative agent, don't bother to get into it with them...just thank them for their time and call again, at which point you are likely to get someone more cooperative.

Hi Vinz,

This is definitely the right thread.

Have you ever logged into ecas to check the status of your application?

Another thing you can do is order case notes that will show you all the information surrounding your application. You'll see notes, what they've started and what they haven't, etc.

You can <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j_E_dq_uLVo&feature=youtu.be">see how to do that by going here.</a>

Case notes typically take 30 days after you order them, so if you want to know what's going on, that might be a great option for you.

I'm not sure how fast London operates, but going through the Ottawa VO, I don't expect to see any changes or even In Progress for at least another month or two. The waiting is the worst part.

Best of luck! ;D

Vinz - I should have prefaced my post by double checking to make sure you haven't received sponsor approval yet. If you have not, then you are behind processing times and call. If you have, then what others have suggested in terms of ordering notes is a reasonable suggestion. Once sponsorship is approved, calling doesn't do any good...you are pretty much just in a waiting game.

Received: May 13, 2015
In Process: June 15, 2015
Then Dead silent.

I phoned the Call Centre agent again, They told me that on July 10, 2015, they sent it for secondary assessment. What do you mean by that? Any idea how long is that going to take. Im thinking of applying another type of permanent resident visa like Express Visa, as this family sponsorship is taking its time....

Please advise

Vinz

Hey Vinz,
I am also behind, although not as behind as you. I know that I they have sent your file for escalation, they have 90 days to respond so I would assume July 10th plus 90 days, you should probably have a response pretty soon :)
Hopefully that helps! And good luck to you!

I am also qualified under Express Entry as Electrical Engineer but I think we can't apply because we're supposed to be under Family Sponsorship Program because of our spouses.
