Congrats to all those who received SA today!!!! Getting nervous here... Our application was received on May 14th and we haven't heard anything yet. Half expecting we'll get a request for updated Option C printout since my wife hadn't filed her taxes for 2013 at the time and we sent the one for 2012.

We used the services of a lawyer so all correspondence from CIC will be going to her instead of my wife. How can my wife call CIC if she doesn't have a UCI number yet? Or does our lawyer have to call instead?

You don't need a UCI to call CIC, just select the option for sponsorship and then it will ask to type in the UCI at that point you can select 0 and it will automatically transfer you through to an agent. Hope that helps!

What is CSQ ?
Hi, the CSQ is the Certificate de Selection du Quebec, and it is for people applying through the Quebec Province, that will need to get approval from Quebec first before continuing the sponsorship in Canada

they request some forms, basically they check the financial part of the sponsorship and require a commitment from the sponsored person to follow the values of the province of Quebec as well as to the french language

Hello,

Can someone please help me out with the spousal sponsorship???

Here's my case, I came to Canada in 2012 as student but now on a work permit. I got married in may to my girl (Canadian Citizen) in Canada and we are living together. We are almost close in sending out the application form and had few questions:

1. I was told that I should be applying an 'Outland' application, but while filling the sponsor-Partner questionnaire, it seems like it is actually meant for someone not living in Canada, would it be fine if we still fill it up and send?

2.My work permit expires in OCT'14, should I be sending my OPW application with this package or should I wait for the approval of sponsorship and send that letter with my application?

3. Though we are Hindu's, we had a small wedding here in Christian rites as my parents were not here. We also had a traditional ceremony in India in May. Would there be any problem because of this? we have pictures for all the events.

4. Should I be sending the PR fees also , as of now I have receipt of $550 ( $ 75 sponsor + $ 475 Principal applicant)

I would appreciate if anyone could help me asap as all this process is really getting me tensed.

1. you can apply inland or outland up to you. I am in Canada on a open work permit at the moment but chose to apply outland because it is much quicker in terms of turnaround time.

2.the open work permit application you can submit together with an inland application but this will not be issued until the initial first assessment is complete i think on the site its about 11mths at the moment , you won't be able to do so via the outland option.

3. I'm not too sure about this (as I applied as common law spouse and its harder to prove these as you need a lot of evidence) but I guess if you provide heaps of evidence of your relationship and can prove it wasn't marriage of convenience then you shouldn't have issues. maybe someone else can give you more insight about this.

4. this is me only, but i only submitted the $550 initially and plan on sending the rest once my application gets sent to my visa office. some people pay all the fees upfront so there are no delays in application. this is really up to you to decide whether you send it all or just the $550

hi Everyone
received an email from our lawyer today. We got SA :D. although checking our "On-line" Status, just says. Application received on may 15 2014. there is a letter attached by CIC in the email from lawyer that says:

"This refers to the Application to Sponsor a Member of the Family Class you submitted to this office on
behalf of XXXXX and family (if applicable).
You have met the requirements for eligibility as a sponsor. Accordingly, the Application for Permanent
Residence for your relative(s) has been forwarded to a visa office abroad for further processing".

we applied outland, and i was worried about not having the Option C as i haven't lived in Canada for the last 10 years. i just sent a 6 month bank statement as per my lawyer's advise. I guess she was right.

we didn't receive an AOR email ( if we are supposed to receive one?!)

Hope everyone waiting will receive the same soon.

Good Luck

yokies already told you valuable information :) i just wanted to add that your VO being New Delhi, they're going to analyse your relationship according to the traditions of your home country, India. given that Indians celebrate quite heavily when marrying ;D (please don't take it as an insult, i think their traditions are very nice!), not sure how much a "small wedding" would do. better consult with others in your situation, check this thread for New Delhi applicants in 2014: http://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/-t180473.0.html and ask your question there.

also, i recommend paying all the fees upfront (1040 CAD in total) in order to avoid delays. seems like this is the first thing they check when your file gets transferred overseas. but, as yokies suggested, you can pay it later. KEY is to NOT pay it only when they request you to, but to do it ahead of them requesting it.

Thanks cutiepie, I already prepared some of the forms before hand. Will send it tomorrow

Hopefully you gonna get the CSQ in next week or so. fingers crossed
ah ok! :D good luck!

yeah i hope we'll get the CSQ pretty fast :) (we're just a few days apart). also, just a heads up, i read another thread here about an applicant that had to go through Quebec as well, and after 4 months at the overseas VO (!!), they asked the sponsored person to send the CSQ to them, MICC hasn't notified the VO  this obviously causes delays. apparently some VO's require the original CSQ sent by you to them, others are satisfied with just a MICC notification. i think it's best to order GCMS notes pretty fast to make sure they received the CSQ, and if not, then to send a Case specific enquiry e-mail to ask if a CSQ is necessary.

Thanks for the heads up. My visa office is London and as far I know they send the CSQ directly. Good idea to order notes early.

I am send in some corrections too so I will order notes may be after a month (hope thats not too early for the notes) to see that they received the CSQ and the corrections.

yeah, i'm not sure what VO was that user going through. another user from the april thread told me that on the CSQ letter they tell you to consult with your VO to make sure they don't actually request the original CSQ. apparently some VO's do this ::). yeah, ordering notes early to check this seems like a good idea!

i still wonder what is CIC doing with applicants that didn't receive SA's yet (before us) : Elegant.heena, jjoon? any updates? :(

I'm trying to check on my application status and can't get through. I chose "Permanent Resident Outside of Canada", then "Simplified Application" (there was no spousal option). I put in my Client ID (even tried husband's Client ID) and all I get is this:

We were not able to identify you using the information you provided. ....... blah, blah, blah.

What am I doing wrong?
