Question lang po sa mga ng land na and been in canada for so long, you maybe can answer this.

I will be landing this february and i believe that they will process the PR card after landing, i just have some questions,im married, but my passport is still in my single name, my visa was also issued using my single name, i am planning to change my name into my married name on my passport as soon as i land in feb, how can i do that with the PR card also? coz i believe that with passport, you will just need to go the embassy of your country to change your name right?

uhm..shoudn't you have done that before you fly out? you may want to ask the people in the forum for manila embassy for English speakers. As far I know. the CEM should have asked for your passport with the name change if you are being sponsored by a permanent resident or a citizen spouse.

if you came here under your own terms then.. totally different story.

i can understand the frustration on some of the members here who are waiting for their visa's and to speed up the process. lets at least be mindful of the members who are actually going through the roughest times this christmas due to loss of love ones and livelihood due to typhoon haiyan/yolanda. I guess my message is compassion and a bit of patience. We never thought our application would get prioritized.. i was just told plead our case.

i guess to some who are abusing the priority. let them be. karma will hit them eventually. but for those who got prioritized for the right reasons, I hope this holidays will provide you time and healing with your love ones.

Sorry bru post ko ung post mu kc everytime my ppr in process dm ask nmin agad if affected b cla ng typhoon.. Anyway congrats to ur wifey and sorry s nangyari s bhay ng inlaws mu..

its ok...
everyone is entitled to their opinions. but it sucks when people. take advantage of this.and then hate and complains prevails. its the holiday season..for us sponsors.. yes we want our love ones to be here. but do understand as well that we are also in a state of rattle when we find out visa is coming. its a whole lot of preparation just for our spouses to be comfortable and properly settled with us.. im all rattled out that shes coming so soon. I was expecting march LOL!...
now the holidays will consist hunting for furniture and closet space LOL!

if you lasted this long for the wait mrsgarcia im sure it will be much sweeter when you receive the visa and plane ticket to be here in Canada. Don't rush.. its soo cold here right now that you'd wish you're back in sunny Philippines.

You don't know cold until you hit Canadian Winter...

Yes, the PR card is processed immediately upon landing. And yes, you can renew your Pinas passport at a PH consulate in Canada - yes "renew" it to get your married name in it even if it will not expire soon. However, you CANNOT change the name that will be printed on your PR card. It will bear the name that is on your passport, visa, and COPR as it is when you "land". You will have to carry your marriage certificate when you travel for the discrepancy in names that will exist once you renew your passport (with your married name).

whats even worst is when you're walking and its slushy... and then a car just smashes your face with dirty snow

Ppr nasan kn???? Magpapasko na.....

CEM. Christmas wish ko lang.. Visa ng hubby ko. Pasko na next week wala padin. :'(

hi mgA sis and bro.. i checked my ecas today and says there "in process" and they started processing my application last December 11, 2013.
hindi po ako affected ng Yolanda so maybe CEM did not completely stop processing the application of regular applicants.. medjo mabagal lang cguro than usual.

no the embassy did not asked for my passport with change name, and as far as i know, canadians are not particular with wheither you'll use your married name or not as long as they saw and are satisfied that the relationship is genuine, the will give you a visa. and that happened to me. but when i get to canada, im planning to change my name to my married name.
