Yes, the PR card is processed immediately upon landing. And yes, you can renew your Pinas passport at a PH consulate in Canada - yes "renew" it to get your married name in it even if it will not expire soon. However, you CANNOT change the name that will be printed on your PR card. It will bear the name that is on your passport, visa, and COPR as it is when you "land". You will have to carry your marriage certificate when you travel for the discrepancy in names that will exist once you renew your passport (with your married name).

thank you so much, but can i not renew my PR after renewing my passport? so i both carry my married name?

if you lasted this long for the wait mrsgarcia im sure it will be much sweeter when you receive the visa and plane ticket to be here in Canada. Don't rush.. its soo cold here right now that you'd wish you're back in sunny Philippines.

You don't know cold until you hit Canadian Winter...

Hi IKON0523...im already in Canada..so I know how it feels..im speaking in behalf of my hubby and for those applicants whose been on hold to prioritize Yolanda Vctims..

Korek sis!!! Sana iba ang nag pprocess ng mga yolanda victims para naman tuluy tuloy yung sa mga regular application. Humahaba ang time ng paghihintay natin eh pwede naman na mabilis lang mag release ng visa. Before mag yolanda super bilis nila...

you and i are the same pala.. im waiting for my wife to get here .. we never expected that our application will be prioritized. im actually a bit shocked.. as i was not prepared for her early arrival...i was expecting march ...personally.. I think they prioritized the application because of my wife's birthplace and her family being affected (directly) although my wife wasn't well shes one of the breadwinners of the family..so financially its staking a toll on her and on us. so I guess we are affected in some ways..but I don't think your application is on hold. in fact. its still below processing times. that should make you feel a bit comforted.

i'm sure that after the holidays, it will start to pick up..as for our DM status, we may not even get the visa until next year because its almost Christmas.
